We are flying from buffalo and because we will have done customs at the border already I am just wondering what food and drinks I am allowed in our carry on...we will have a baby and 2 toddlers. Thanks.

The restrictions on fluids and gels is the same. Just like it is if you were travelling within Canada.

You can carry anything on the plane that fits in your carrion luggage but liquids and gels under the size regulations must be purchased after you pass through the security scanners. Then you can buy fruit, large water, anything you please!

Do you mean before I pass through?

You must go through the security without the liquids or gels. Once in the airport at the gates you can buy whatever you wish as they don't care what you bring on the plane since you've already be cleared by security. Buffalo is fairly small but you can buy food and drink at one spot once past security.

thanks. I am wanting to take formula and baby food and snacks on in my carry on. will that be allowed?? or should I pack the big tin of formula in my suitcase

GKTW Nova Scotia Take 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We officially announced this week that the Give Kids The World DIS Meet is a go for another year. Last year we surprised everyone by raising almost $5500, btw it costs $5000 to send a family for a week. We have a bigger venue and prizes are rolling in already, including a Kobo.
We are holding our event on Sunday August 11, but will have a full weekend of fun, and as heard on this weeks podcast, the Orlando team is doing a "field trip" to Nova Scotia. Last year we sold out and have tickets sold already for this year........don't miss out. Take advantage of one of the few opportunites for us Canadians to meet each other and the podcast team!!!

You can check online about TSA restrictions, but baby formula and baby food (in their own sealed jars) are exempt from the usual restrictions and can be carried in your carryon bags. They do have to be presented at security for inspection, however, just like anything else. The only proviso that I have seen is that this is only allowed if there is a child under the age of 2 in your party.

As for snacks- as long as they aren't liquids or gels, and they are packaged, then you're fine.

Well that's a bit broad considering there is a list several pages long of things you can't bring in your carryon. But the US list is pretty much the same as the Canadian list, and it is all fairly common sense. See the list at the TSA here:

Given that the poster was referring to the OPs desire to bring food and drink for her children, the poster was correct. They were not referring to non-food banned items.

I basically said buy it after security and you can't buy anything they won't allow on the plane once through security.

As for formula, I always brought powder and then bought the liquid once through security to mix it.

We just flew to DL and back with ds1, dd2, dd5, we took formula in liquid form, baby food pouches, and apple sauce squishems with no problems. They did open the food to do a vapor test and put the formula into a machine for a test but otherwise we had no problems. They only tested the food that was over 100g. I carried extra formula powder in a pre portioned dispenser just in case I had to dump the formula.
