They both live in different states and I can't seem to think of anything other than flowers. Any suggestions?

Don't feel too bad. According to our local news, flowers and chocolate were the top items the polled moms wanted. Most women appreciate cut flowers, even if they would not splurge to purchase them for themselves.

My mother loves family pictures. You might be able to send a photo gift from snapfish or shutterfly with expedited shipping if you were interested in doing something like that.

Wine Country Gift Baskets has some really nice baskets.

Spa or restaurant gift certificate.

Gift certificate for dinner and a movie.

I've gotten my mom an edible arrangement for the past few years.
She loves them. Says they're really pretty PLUS - more healthy than chocolate and doesn't just die and go in the garbage like flowers:goodvibes

MIL likes audio books so I think we're going w/ audible.com credit.

I got my mom an eye mask from Lavender Scents http://www.lavenderscents.com/. For her birthday in April, I got her the neck wrap and she loves it. I have the neck wrap in peppermint and one in lavender plus the eye mask in eucalyptus. They are all so nice.

One of those fruit bouquets? Why NOT flowers? Harry and David? Godiva? All still possible today but better get crackin'.

Let's see, this year Shari's Berries, last year a flowering plant, year before Edible Arrangment, I've done chocolate, cookies/brownies, regular flowers...

Made my mom a photo book this year with pictures of the trip she took alone with my dd.

We sent my Mom a gift certificate for Amazon.com. This way she can pick out music, a book or just about anything else she might want. :)

I have done Cheryl & Co. cookie gift boxes/baskets, they go over really well.

Gift cards. Never the wrong color/style/size. never something they don't like/can't use/ are allergic to.When they first became popular, DW thought they were lazy alternatives for people who didn't put any thought into what to get a particular person. Now, everyone we know actually requests them now. Good luck

I agree! If I want to go out to eat, buy flowers I can. As for me I looove getting Visa gift cards as I loove to buy vintage glass cake stands. Going on e-bay for example I can shop/look to my hearts content.:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:

My mom asked for & is getting an Amazon gc. She has a Kindle & loves to be able to buy books. DH is also stealing the idea for his mom, same situation. Neither *needs* anything but they both love to read.

I know the Edible Arrangements are popular, but we don't have one in our city. On Tax Day (I work for a CPA) a client sent our office 2 boxes of the dipped fruit from the sister website of EA - something like dippedfruit.com and it was delicious. They sent boxes that were assortments of dipped strawberries, dipped apples and dipped banana slices. I thought that was a neat idea!

However, my husband vetoed that idea for his mom, thinking his parents wouldn't eat it, so we went with a restaurant giftcard.
