What to put in an OL?

I read the thread about being an "OL groupie" with interest, as I am considering getting in on it as well. We usually take 2 trips down to WDW a year; one with kids, one without. 1 we fly, the other we drive.

I searched for more threads on it, but was unable to find any, so forgive me if I am asking an "old" question...what do you put into your OL? I don't want to put any type of small kitchen appliances. I want to know about the things you would forget to pack if you didn't have this. Like hand wipes, laundry det., etc.

We are driving this time so now would be the time to fill it, as I can load the car up and not worry about airline fees.

Looking forward to reading your replies!

Lisa

We love our OL...coffee,coffee filters, wine, wine glasses, cleaning wipes, scissors, first aid kit, rain jackets, luggage scale, beach bag, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, sunscreen, full size shampoo and conditioner, body wash, aspirin, cold medicines, toothbrushed, toothpaste, hair brushes, toiletries..the list goes on and on...one day I'll write it all down so I can remember!:)

Corkscrew, real wine glass, swimsuit, coverup, sunblock, hairspray, hair styling junk, jacket, crocs, (I am not wearing those anyplace but to the pool!), extra t-shirt, extra socks, laundry detergent, toothpaste, pins, lanyard, Disney 'bag', sun hat, sweatshirt, ink pens, scented candle, matches, and more...

I know there's a poster on here that has a duvet in hers!

Can you store coffe in the same box with laundry??? or any kind of soaps with some sort of food (cereals f.e.)?

Doesn´t finish all the smells mixed?

What about a OL for once per year visitors? Does it work for us too?

What could we store that can be used again after a loooooooong year?

Ziplocks.

I put everything in ziplocks and things seem fine.

Laundry Detergent keeps well over a year!

Really the big benefit for me is what I refer to as the Disney Toys. Things like a Pal Mickey (Mine is not there anymore, but you get the idea), sunhat, special bag that I only use at Disney, trading pins etc.... That stuff was a pain to store and probably in this day of extra charges for each bag would not be going anymore.....

We just got ours last week. We put in all the extra unopened non-persishable food (granola bars, can of soup) and leftover bottled water and soda in ours along with the usual ponchos, toiletries, extra ziplocs, etc...

I :lovestruc Owners Locker!

Yeah, we have a whole DVC tote bag full of stuff that we'd only use/wear at Disney. So that's some of the stuff I'll be bringing to leave in our OL this year.

Along with some of the other housekeeping stuff mentioned.

In addition to things listed above I have a Brita filter, Nalgene bottle, tea, beach towels, ponchos, over the counter meds, some Disney tees, and dishes for when we stay in studios or values, lite bracelets and necklaces, chargers, and extension cord.

But there's no room for the small crockpot I bought...:confused3

We just got our locker. We're putting in anything we might need if our flight here was delayed and we got here but our luggage didn't, for example any toiletries we would need, a nightshirt, toothbrushes, disposable razors, etc. I never have enough hangers here so I bought some, including pants hangers. I bought a small digital alarm clock so DH and I can each have a clock on the bedside table like we do at home. Scissors (which we've already used multiple time to cut open that plastic packaging that everything seems to come in these days!), extension cords, leftover containers, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, sandwich bags, food storage bags, coffee filters, emergency ponchos, clothes pins, laundry detergent. I'm also leaving my Body Glide here because I couldn't survive a Disney vacation without it (it prevents blisters)!

Scissors, yes!! We used the scissors so much!

I remembered another key item. A REAL hairdryer as opposed to that horrid wall mounted thing!

Most of what's already been listed, plus:
framed pics of grandkids

2 keyboards (for our laptops)
1 flat screen monitor (yes, we must work a little)
1 Brita faucet filter
1 feather pillow

Our's is packed to the hilt. A second one may be needed. :goodvibes

and the things I wouldn't want to live without are:
a real fitted sheet
laundry soap
good shampoo and conditioner
a real hair dryer
various and sundry medications, especially for the kids

WOW is all I can say!! I just purchased my OL and am putting together a list of what to send down before our trip. Does all of this really fit inside? Thats incredible! You must be a packing houdini!!
