My mom wants to get started in scrapbooking so I'm going to make her a little basket of some basic beginner tools. She already has a 12x12 album, a 8 1/2x11 album, glue stick, photo squares and some paper. For my basket so far I have a 12" paper trimmer, Cutter Bee scissors and tape runner. What else should I add to this to make sure she has some good supplies to start with?
Thanks!

A scrap mag (for ideas) or mabey that CK enclopedia..great for beginers!
Some goodies (brads/alpha stickers or a stamp alpha/foam stamps)
Tools (is she going to use eyelets?)

Hmmm...I think I'd add the following things (and they can all be gotten at Michael's or Joann's if you don't have a good LSS nearby):

* a good black pen for journaling

* a good photo pencil (one that you can write on photos with and then wipe off)

* that soft cloth to wipe the photo pencil (and fingerprints, etc.) off the photos ;)

* those nifty bent tweezers -- Mrs. Grossman's makes them but they're really expensive and I know Provo Craft makes cheaper ones. I have two pair -- they're great for positioning little letter stickers, eyelets, etc.

* a Xyron 150 -- I use mine constantly!!!

I love my corner rounder and if you get her any kind of cutting tools don't forget something to bare down on and the best one of all would be a gift certificate to her LSS and maybe an offer to take her there when she has an idea of what she wants to put in the books.

This is a nice idea for you to do. I hope she enjoys scrapping as much as we do.

the new silent setter, or maybe a gift certificate to a local store that has special classes for beginners.

I second the corner rounder. An inexpensive way to really give the photos a finished look!

What about a sampler paper pack?

A color wheel, a nice steel ruler, a few shape punches (basics like circles and squares), a few good basic color journaling pens, extra blades for the 12 x 12 trimmer, and some nice basic colors of cardstock?? HTH.............P

STICKERS!!!!! some nice alphabets in nice fun colors and a few sets of black .. then some other fun ones!!! a coupon to bring her to a crop with you (like Creative Memories and they will teach her the basic) .. have fun Michelle

What a nice thing to do!!! I agree w/all of the suggestions and might add a Craft Keeper or some kind of trays to put her completed pages in in case she likes to scrap out of order....Or just to hold pages and extra paper. What about a photo box or some kind of organizer to get her pages in order for cropping and layouts? I REALLY like the idea of a gift certificate...maybe for a class since she'll have so many great supplies from you!! :teeth:
