Hi. I know this place gets a lot of mixed reviews, but I really want to try it. My entire family, while not gourmets, certainely know good food.I've heard the food is like school cafeteria food. What have you ordered that was good/bad quality? Thanks!

The food is in no way what so ever like school food. Maybe your thinking of the tasteless food offered at Chef Mickeys.

The meat loaf, pot roast, shrimp pasta and chcken pot pie are all good. If your one of those who like your greenbeans over cooked liked canned ones you won't like their green beans. Get the corn instead

They ahve the best fried chicken I've ever had anywhere, ever.

DH & DS love the meatloaf.

Defintely NOT "school food"!

The Unofficial Guide has had that school cafeteria food comment in there for as long as I can remember -- he sure went to different kind of school cafeteria than I did. The food is "home cooking style" and delicious. My family's favorites are the fried chicken and the meatloaf. I would not recommend the pasta with marinara from the kids' menu if your child is expecting spaghetti Os. It's pasta with a fairly spicy marinara sauce pourded over it. My child did not like it, but he loved my meatloaf, so I shared.

Here is another vote for the fried chicken. It is the second best fried chicken I have ever had, it is almost as good as what my dear grandmother used to make and she made some excellent Southern fried chicken! It is funny because the decor of the restaurant also reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen when I was a kid. PT food is definitely NOT like school cafeteria food.

I disagree on the chicken pot pie!! Be forewarned - it has cheese (a lot!) in the gravy. If it isn't served piping hot, and my daughter's wasn't - it turns into SLUDGE! It was terrible.

Other than that - we have always loved PT's food - the Pot Roast is awesome - the mashed potatoes are yummy - fried chicken - fantastic, onion rings - simply perfection. My DH said the steak was the best he's had in years. Of course, the shakes and ice cream are delicious - and we love the antics of the waiters.

Sorry to hear that CRCrazy...I had the chicken pot pie and it was piping hot and it was the best that I ever tasted.

We had the pleasure of dining at PT in November/02 and we will definiately do it again!

Cheers,

Kim

I have had the pot roast there twice and it was delicious. My wife got the chicken pot pie last time and thought it was a little skimpy and the vegetables could have been cooked more. My kids always get the chicken fingers which they love. We did not have anything there that we disliked. If this is school food, I'm eating lunch with my daughters from now on.

I have had a great burger there and I loved my Meatloaf. Last trip i had a good, though different, chicken breast sandwich. This is one of the few full service restaurants at WDW where you can get a dinner/side salad that has iceburg lettuce in it....thank goodness!!! :)

PT also has great desserts. I always get the S'Mores dessert. It is one big s'more and boy is it yummy!

I love the fried chicken! I rarely eat fried foods, but every time I eat at PrimeTime I will order the fried chicken. It is delicious, served with mashed potatos and crispy green beans! Yum! I wish I was there right now!

I once ordered the pot pie. It was good, but too rich for my tastes. I felt sick after just a few bites - lots of cheese and cream - which is a good thing - but I just couldn't tolerate a big portion. I think it could easily be shared!

My husband loves to go here later in the trip for Pot Roast. By that time he is ready for home cooking and this hits the spot.

My kids always want to go because they have so much fun. This trip I told them we would be doing Sci Fi instead of Prime Time.
How is the food/atmosphere there?

Gee, I was just going to say, whatever you do don't order the pot roast. It was fatty and not very good when I had it in December. I really like pot roast and this was the worst I have ever eaten.

The french fried onion rings were excellent - very thin and lightly battered. Next time, I'd get a burger. Shakes and malts were great.

50' Prime Time and Liberty Tree Tavern have become a tradition with us on every trip!

DH loves the Pot Roast, and has never ordered anything else, and we've eaten there 6 times!

I've tried the onion rings, chicken noodle soup, turkey sandwich, and fried chicken.

The fried chicken comes with 3 big pieces of chicken, breast, thigh and leg. Way too much food for me! But very delish!

And you have to try one of their chocolate malts! The best I have ever had!

I almost tried their new Vegetable Stuffed Pepper, but once I read it was made with soy mozzarella cheese, and had capers in it, I decided to skip it!

You can also just stop in for a Banana Split....one couple was doing just that.

Here's a little tip; when you stop in to make a reservation, ask for a "TV Table!"

Different people have different tastes in food, so it is impossible to tell someone else what they will or won't like. However, we have never been disappointed with anything we have ordered from the 50's Prime Time Menu. We have had the meatloaf, fried chicken and pot roast as entrees, and the s'mores for dessert. All were delicious, hot and wonderful. The service was fun, courteous and prompt. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Every trip to WDW we go to PT atleast once. Everytime I get the same thing.....Chile Fries (YUMMMMMM) Fried Chicken, then S'mores for dessert. Needless to say I cannot eat all of this food, but it is so good. My husband loves the meatloaf. I have also heard the chicken soup is very good especially for cold, rainy days like we had in Dec.

Please don't base your restaurant choices soley on what others say...you'll miss out on a lot of great restaurants that way! We've loved restaurants that others have hated, and hated restaurants that others love. Everyone has different expectations. If you want to try a restaurant, I say go for it!!

DH and I have always enjoyed our meals at 50s. Last time, I had the pot roast and LOVED it! I'm not a fan of their green beans, which can be a hassle sometimes depending on your "cousin" or "aunt/uncle". ;) Don't forget to save room for s'mores!!

We loved PT50's. I had the pot roast and it was excellent. Dh loved the meatloaf. We went with another family and they are somewhat (okay, very!) picky about their food. They liked it a lot. We also like CHef Mickey's. But I don't particularly like California Grille. So..just goes to show..different strokes for different folks.
