Just wondering what to order for the afternoon tea (it will be Dh, myself and dd's 8 & 6)? We have a 3:50 pm ADR so I am thinking we will have had lunch (though this is our sleep in day so maybe just a late breakfast). I was thinking of ordering the Buckingham for us and Mrs. Potts for dd's (though they do like herbal tea) but later we have an 8 pm ADR at Cape May and don't want to be too full enjoy that. Is the Bukingham too much food? Is it better to order a la carte? Any input would be appreciated?

We always get exactly as you planned--Buckingham for us and Mrs. Potts for DD8. She has been permitted to get tea instead of milk. It is a lot of food!

One time, DD and I took my Dsis. Dsis didn't get how much food there was going to be and insisted on having dinner reservations for all of us, not just the husbands and boys. Well, we never eat dinner after tea. DD8 and I just sat at a table with them. I think Dsis ate, but she was trying to prove me wrong! :rotfl:

The tea sandwiches alone equal 1 1/4 sandwiches, plus scones, pastries, tea. It is a good-sized meal for me. I would probably have something snacky later, but not a full dinner.

If you're heart is really set on Cape May, you probably just want to do some pastries or something else small at tea. Given the choice, I would take tea over Cape May, but that's just my opinion. Tea is wonderful. Enjoy!

I usually order the Buckingham. The sandwiches are small, made with thin bread. You also get a couple of scones and I choose the pastries over the strawberries. I think you get 2 or 3 pastries. The strawberries are a very large serving. You probably will finish between 4:45 and 5:00 and need to have enough of an appetite by 8:00. We have gone to the tea earlier and used it as a light lunch. I do think that even though the items served are small that it can be filling. If you have a late breakfast and then have the Buckingham you should be hungry enough for Cape May. You could eat just one of your scones and not both and just sample each of the sandwiches. You would then not be so full.
Any chance of moving your tea time up a bit?
