What to Order at the San Angel Inn

I have read many "negative" or not so pleasurable experiences at the San Angel Inn. But, I have always wanted to eat here.

I always wanted to watch the boats from the EL RIO DEL TEMPO go by(Sounds Silly, I Know). The smell inside the Mexico pavillion always attracted me too.

But, all of the good reviews said to order the true Mexican meals. What would be a good choice. Thanks

We love the San Angel Inn! I always order the mole poblano. Okay...there should be an accent over the e in mole...it's not really made with moles! It's actually chicken simmered in a delicious sauce that supposedly contains a bit of dark chocolate, although I can never pick out that flavor. It is absolutely "to die for" and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. DH usually orders the tenderloin, which he says is fantastic.

We love the San Angel Inn and have always had good meals there. Here is another vote for the mole poblano, and I love their margaritas, too! Apparently, it is best to avoid the "Tex-Mex" and stick with the authentic stuff.

The thing I love the most is the shrimp!!!!! My wife and I love it. We acutally spent a "date night at Disney" there, leaving our kids with my Dad for dinner at POR.

I can't really remember what I've had to eat at San Angel, but I do know that I've never been disappointed with the food. It's always been hot and tasty.

But whatever you do, bring along a small flashlight or night vision goggles or a lantern or SOMETHING. It's so dark in there that you're sure to go blind trying to read the menu.

We usually each get a salad & share the appetizer Queso Fundido. mmmmm
