My 2 DDs wrote out their Christmas wish list to santa. My DD9 asked for a guitar. She wants to take lessons, which I think is great. Picked up a good one for around 60$. My DD7, well, she asked for a cell phone. That's something I cannot give her. So what do I substitute instead? Something with WOW factor that stands up to a guitar? She likes to sing and dance, are there any games out there for her age? We have a wii, and an xbox360. I don't want her to be disappointed this year, but I can't get her a cell phone. And a fake one just doesn't cut it, kwim? They really don't get many presents from us - only two or three, as we aren't home for christmas and the grandparents buy most of their gifts. We get the Santa gifts. Thanks for any help - I am at a loss here!

How about a camera or inexpensive flip camcorder? DS? Would she like a keyboard if big sis is getting a guitar - they could make up songs?

oooh, a keyboard is a good idea. I'll have to take a look at those. These kids really have everything. They are so spoiled, I'm ashamed to admit it. They have DS's, and they have small cameras. Not very good ones, but they aren't that responsible right now anyway. we live so far away from family that their grandparents get them everything, even though we've argued extensively over it. so basically we've left it at - if I want to spoil my grandchildren, I will - ugh. i want to get her something that she will actually use, so I'm staying away from the whole barbie, bratz, pixos kind of stuff.

Thank you for the suggestions!!!!!:worship:

What about a tracfone? I got ds one a couple years ago. it was a kmart freebie with a small card. My FIL uses one and spends about $20 every couple months. Just a suggestion.

Hi

My DSD is 7 as well. She has disney sing it for x box 360. They make it for wii as well, not sure which one is cheaper. She LOVES it!!!! It can be a little tricky, unless you know the words but she still loves it. The words do come up on the screen, but she is still getting the hang of reading them quickly. They sing High school musical songs, camp rock, hannah montana and more. I do it with her and it is a ton of fun. There are a ton of games similar, so depending on what type of music she likes I'm sure you can find one. We only have one microphone, I actually think for Christmas we will get another so we don't have to try to share one. Your voice comes right through the speakers. It's a great time. Good luck!!:santa:

Thanks! I am heading to walmart to see what they have, but I saw that they had the HSM one with the mic on sale online, so I may get that one, and just the game of the other disney one, as the HSM one was cheaper with the mic than the disney one. :thumbsup2

I was going to suggest some kind of Karoke machine or game. Also maybe pick up one of those spinning disco-ball light things. Sounds like that would go well with DD9's guitar.

I was also going to suggest a dance mat. My DDs (9&10) have had one for a couple of years for their PS2 and they love it. We have a lot of fun on it, and it is usually the first thing they haul out when company or friends are over.

BTW - Thanks for the Sing It suggestion. I was looking for one more thing for DD9, and that is what I decided to get. I got 2 Disney Sing Its and a Disney DDR game for PS2 for around $56.

could you get her a phone for her room? DD8 got this for her birthday (I also was not going to get her a cell phone). She liked a cordless pottery barn teen phone in purple. Really cute actually. She hasn't used it much, but I'm sure will in the future and was happy to have her own phone.

DS11 asked for a cell phone too. We shot that down immediately. He then asked for a phone for his room instead. Don't know why, he doesn't call anyone accept for us. I realize that will soon be changing. I teased him that he could have my old pink phone, purchased it in 1987, he then told me he really didn't need a phone.

Here are some ideas:

* I was going to suggest a karaoke machine too!

* Ipod Nano or touch

* American Girl doll

* netbook

* theater camp!!!!!

* theater tickets
