what to expect

Well, I hope you're prepared for the responses you'll get on this. For me it was:
The beautiful, grand ship
WONDERful ports of call
Great service and crew
MAGICal shows
Delicious food
Spa service
Knowing that you're going to book again and again.

thanks for replying...we are so excited...we stay on the phone w/each other or internet looking at stuff...what do we do when we arrive...so many things to choose from...what do you suggest? you are the first person that i have actually got a response from! i am new to the board and don't know exactly how this works!

When you arrive at the Disney Cruise Terminal I would suggest get in line so when they board the ship (12:00) you can head directly to the Vista Spa to make appointments. One of the things, to me, that is a don't miss is a facial on the ship and the "full body" massage on Castaway Cay. Our last cruise (Jan 2003) we waited until the line went down before we boarded and headed to the Spa and got one of the few Castaway massages left. They have only about 5 Cabanas so the availability is limited. Also if you want to dine at Palo's follow the signs posted and do that right after you board also.
Next head to your cabin to drop off your carry ons and go explore the "wonderful, beautiful, luxurious Magic". There will be a wonderful lunch buffett waiting for you to dine at anytime after you board (the shrimp is too die for).
If you use the internet alot I would get the $90.00 unlimited service time. And be sure to send us LIVE reports.....we love live reports. At one time on this discussion board there was a WONDERFUL tip list for first time cruisers. You might cruise the board to see if you can find it. If you can't let us know and we can start another up for you and other first time cruisers.

First off...... welcome to the DIS!!! A great board with a lot of great people and lots of info.

It may not fall under "exciting", but I really enjoyed watching the reaction the characters received from the younger children. In particular, the girl's reactions to the characters at the "Princess Party". It was great to just stand there and watch them.

The ship is over whelming as you drive up to it,make sure you are looking for it, it's hard to miss! Don't miss Palo and the chocolate souffle, it is AWESOME! My mother is not even a chocolate fan and loves it. If you have little kids, put their bathing suits on them the morning you are heading to port, so they can swim as you enjoy the topsiders buffet on deck 9. That will be the least crowded you will ever see the pools again! Get the daily navigators and plan your day in the morning so you don't miss anything that you really want to do. Maybe bring a hi-lighter, that helps us.

Welcome to the board, and have a MAGICAL time!!!

Hi again tifsauntchristy.

what is the most exciting thing on the cruise?

As you're from West Virginia, the "MOST exciting thing" might be the indoor plumbing...

Too funny BD

I think you should plan a tristate DIS meet, on LI of course.

Joanna

or as he as lovely referred to here as "BD" is the comic in residence. he has a keen wit and a great sence of humor! now that you are part of the "family" you are fair game..
In my humble opinon the best thing on the cruise only happens after you have been on several,, I did not notice it on cruise one or two.. but it is the wonderfull feeling of "comming home" our son knows the ship, we do, it is a safe, happy contented enviornment. If I could I would live on the Magic...

Hey Ann you never know, Newsday had an article a couple of years ago about an elderly woman who sold her home and lives on the QE2 (pretty sure that was the ship) When the ship went into dry dock is when she visited her son.

I mean you'd have to wait quite a few more years (you're welcome for the compliment)

For me, my wife.

For BD, who knows, maybe my wife, too.

hey Jim just how well does BD know your wife?

Joanna thanks for the compliment:D

Hmmm....Yeah Jim, Do tell us. Nothing like some good DIS gossip.

Ann:

hey Jim just how well does BD know your wife?

I'm sure you'd have to ask BD.

What would the world be without some good gossip?

Christy...welcome to DIS! The best thing you can do to prepare for the trip is to read this board EVERYDAY!LOL! The 2nd best thing you can do is to find other DIS'ers who will be on your cruise and start a thread for "your cruise". You have a whole year to plan and research. It will go by VERY fast. I started at 340 days and am now down to 94 YIPEE! We now have over 40 families we are going to meet (over 100 people!). This will be our third cruise in 3 years and several of the DIS'ers going we have cruise with on 1 or 2 previous cruises!
To quote my very smart sister" you ARE going to be sailing with 2600 stangers, you might as well get to know some of them before you sail"!
Have fun planning!

Ok,ok, back to the TOPIC!! I like what Retelling said. I hope that's true for us. Our third cruise on the Magic is coming up. My best memory last time was the adult entertainment at night. My kids loved the clubs last summer so my husband and I could enjoy daily adult entertainment, guilt free. We laughed so hard, it was wonderful!!!
