We will be going to florida 5/7 -- 5/14. We are staying in inverness fla to visit my parents. My sister will be going to. We want to spend a nite or 2 at disney. Should we wait and try to book rooms when we get there at the ocala welcome center(1/2 hr from inverness) or try to book now?? Which resort would be good for us(we would like to spend one day enjoying resort pool and facilities, while 2 days at parks). we were thinking of carribean beach or coranado springs. dw thought what about contemporary. Is a deluxe worth 2 nights?? Mi sister thinks coranado springs is too "convention-like". Sorry so long. Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

p.s.
Do you think 50 year celebration will affect ability to get room??

May can be a bustling time with Star Wars Weekends, Grad Nights, Epcot Flower Festival, etc.. so I would recommend booking in advance, just to be safe. You just don't want the disappointment of getting shut out!

twimsmom&dad, I recommend that you go to the bookstore or library today and get one of the Disney information books. I like the Unofficial Guide, but it is the longest so you might just get Birnbaums or something. Read about all of the different resorts, make a decision, and call Disney ASAP. If you wait you may not get the hotel you want. The Contemporary is great if you mostly want to do the MK, ditto for the Poly. CS is largely a convention resort, but the pool looks great. You just have to decide on budget and which general location you want. Good luck, let us know what you decide :D

You could book now and keep you eyes open on these Boards for a discount code. They should be coming out in the next month or so for that date. you need to decide which resort you want to stay at first. If a deluxe is too expensive (we feel they are worth the extra cost), then book a moderate or value. You could always upgrade when a code comes out. There are so many options, you will need to do a lot of research, but you have come to the right place for help. Good luck. PS - I also have relatives in Inverness. I haven't visited them in years. I also think you should book now. It's too risky to wait. We've never stayed at Coronado Springs, but have stayed at the Caribbean Beach and enjoyed it very much. If you're looking to stay in the moderates, I would go with that one.

I would study up and for sure book before you go. You never know what they may or may not have available and for what rates. As for the resort that you stay at, I don't know what kind of price range you are looking at but if you are wanting to spend a day enjoying the resort, then I would strongly suggest the Yacht or Beach; otherwise, a hotel near the Boardwalk. All of these give you a great deal to do, with no driving required. You can run over and spend time on the Boardwalk, looking in shops, eating at one of the many wonderful eateries (sp) or taking a boat out. The only reason I suggested the Yacht or Beach is beacuse they have one of the nicest pools I have ever seen. I really enjoy the Swan/Dolphin pool as well; however, kids don't enoy it quite as much. There is not a big slide and it is a little quieter - really nice for those with no kids, however! Whatever you decide, however, will be wonderul. Have a magical time and be sure to let us know how it went on the Trip Reports Board!

I would not go out and buy a book check out Deb's site below. It has EVERYTHING, along with great pictures of all the resorts. Look under accomadations.

I would go ahead and book a room as soon as you know where you want to stay, they do go quickly. When codes are out you can apply them to you exsisting reservation.

My sister in law is trying to figure out the same thing-wants to do 2 days parks, one day water parks, and maybe spend a day at the beach on the coast. She wants to stay onsite. Just wondering if anyone knows how far away the nearest beach areas' are from disney and if it would be worth it to stay onsite or somewhere in between the beach and the parks?
