I know it is hard to stay on track when you are laid up because you have so much extra time on your hands and you can't do much. Just keep in mind how far you have come on your weight loss journey and remember you still want to go further. Don't give yourself permission to overeat, make sure when you are eating it is because you are hungry and not just bored. If you think it is hunger, wait 10-15 minutes and if you are still hungry, eat, just in moderation. Keep things close at hand that can keep idle hands busy, like crossword puzzles, books, writing paper or something like cross stitch (and if you don't cross stitch, buy yourself a project and teach yourself, it is easy). Or maybe you can get a jump on your holiday cards by either addressing all the envelopes or writing the cards or both. The more you keep busy the less you will rely on food. Also, before your surgery cut up some veggies or something healthful that is allowed on whatever program you are following, this way they are ready at hand for the times you want to munch.

Good luck.

First of all bambii PD :wizard: and a  for your upcoming surgery. Please, please don't go of your plan after you have your surgery, even if you can't work out stick to your plan! Several years ago I had lost 74lbs and then I had to have my gallbladder removed. I of course couldn't exercise and I used this as an excuse not to stick to me plan needless to say I put back on all of the weight that I had lost! So here I am again losing this same weight, but I have to say I have learned from my experiences and I won't be doing that again. Come to WISH everyday, if you can, and we will help you through this ::yes:: Good luck bambii with your surgery and with sticking to your plan. Please let us know how you go on.

{{{HUGS}}} I hope your surgery is easy and successful.

I know you won't be able to work out for a while but one thing I learned when I had my several different abdominal surgeries over the years is that they want you to walk. So you will be walking some and that will help.

Concentrate on getting well and then if you have gained anything you will easily take it off. Don't be surprised, if at your first post op weigh in you show a 5 or 6 or more pound gain. There is something about the anesthesia that causes us to retain fluid and it will go away soon if it happens to you.

{{{Hugs}}}, Bambii. Lots of prayers and PD for a successful surgery. Take care of yourself and be sure to follow dr.'s orders. Getting better is what is important right now.
