What to do?!

I currently have a trip planned for July 4-14th. I knew before about the Soarin' refurb, which I do expect to be open, but I suppose anything is possible. However, I was upset to find out about the BTMRR refurb which will have it closed for my trip (opening TWO days later ). Now, on the outside chance of two mainstays being closed, I'm not sure what to do...

I've been many times, so if I miss one thing its not a big deal(although BTMRR is a favorite) but it is my girlfriend's first trip and those are two main attractions! I've looked into changing our dates, but since we're flying Delta that would result in $200 change/cancel fees.

Any opinions or tips for Delta accepted. Or should I just stay put?

Next time, book Southwest Airlines.

(No, I don't have a piece of the company.)

I wouldn't change anything. These are scheduled refurbs, but rides go down all the time so there's really no guarantee for any attraction whenever you go. For example, on one trip I had a FP+ for BTMRR and received a message that the ride was down. It wasn't up before I left the park, so I never got to ride it on that trip.

Next time, book Southwest Airlines.
^^^ This! Love SWA!
But, you've already booked, soooo, I would absolutely go, Soarin' may be out of refurb a bit ahead of time, there is so much more at WDW aside from those 2 attractions!
You will still have a wonderful time AND it will give you a really good reason to return!

^^This. Disney is so much more than two rides. And if you're only going to Disney for 2 rides, then you have too much money to waste, lol.
I can't imagine she'll be disappointed, there is so much to see and do! If she likes rollercoasters, there's still Everest, RnR at HS, Space etc... And remember, the beauty is, it's her first time, so she doesn't know what she's missing ;)

I'm already looking at return trips! lol

I suppose I could always just hope and pray that maybe BTMRR opens a couple days early. Not likely, but a man can dream!

Go, ride closures are fluid and she can't miss something she's never had. There is so much to see and do she'll still probably be overwhelmed as it is.

My second favorite ride is BTMRR and I'm not changing my plans because of the refurbishment. There's so much to see at WDW that there is always next time for BTMRR.

Agree with all PP's! Definitely still go, there's sooo much to do and planning return trips is so much fun :) Every year we go we find we didn't make it onto a ride or something was closed (last year one of our faves Pirates was closed in Aug) but we'll be back this Aug and it will be open. Hope you and your friend have a magical trip!

Oh and I meant either keep my dates or change my dates and pay the change fee through delta by the way...not that it seems to effect anyone's response

There's so much to do and see for a First-Timer, she won't know what she's missing out on and will still have a great trip.

Plus, it gives you a great excuse to return!

Two attractions, no matter how "big", will not make or break a vacation in my opinion

There will always be refurbs I wouldn't change a trip because of 2 rides being down. So much more to see than that

Keep your vacation, there is so much more to see than just those two rides! We were down last year when POTC (one of our must do's, favorite rides) was closed and even though we missed it we know this year we get to see the new and improved version. We go just about every year and each year our vacation is different. Have a great time!

I would not change. You just never know what will be closed when you book. Yes it stinks, but it happens to all of us. I was so bummed POTC was down last summer. That is one of my favorite rides. I was so upset it was closed, but that's just the way it goes. Go and have fun, there is so much more. And who knows, maybe they will do a soft opening for BTMR while you are there since it opens two days before you leave.

I'll be there July 6-13 and am also disappointed about BTMRR, but it's not worth changing plans. Just keep an eye out...it might reopen early!
