Hi Everyone, I'm having a bit of a dilemma.

As some of you will know there was originally 3 people going on the trip i've booked next summer. One dropped out and I found a replacement. Now another one has dropped out, and the girl I found to replace the first girl who dropped out has said to cancel, and I'm concerned she can't really afford it but doesn't want to hurt me.

Do I help out as much as I can financially and keep the trip? or do i cancel and lose the deposits? I really want to go, it was going to be the one thing that kept me going through this year at uni, through my exams and everything. It would have been my first real holiday in over a year and now it's all kinda going down the pan.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kirsty

Hi Kirsty, why not cancel the two who can't make it and let them loose their deposit and you go on your own? I know it wouldn't quite be the same but at least you'd still have your trip to look forward to and I can tell you that traveling on your own is such a sense of achievement.

but kinda scary....i still feel like a kid!!! it's so tempting, but i dunno....i guess i would have to give it some thought....

If you need any tips on solo travel, I'm off for my second solo trip tomorrow!!

WDW is a brilliant place for solo travel, it's safe, convienient to get around and you can chat to lots of people about Disney ;)

I'd have to agree with going solo rather than missing out completely. Hope you work it out :grouphug:

I think if you are going solo for the 1sttime you are bound to be a bit wary about it, to be honest I would be too.

It all depends on what sort of a person you are, and what family ties you have etc - for me it would be unthinkable , but I have a wife and son so it just depends, it's very much a personal thing and one that is difficult to advise on.

i hope you decide what to do soon it's such a shame!
My sister was meant to come with me and my son but she dropped out just before i booked but i couldn't let my son down and booked anyway so in a strange kinda way i'm on my own with a little 7 year old companion bit scary as it's the first time we've travelled anywhere alone but i bet we'll have a great time!!and i'm sure you would if you went alone just think not having to take the time out to do the things your friends would want to do?let us know what you decide

well im at uni, i see my family 6 or 7 times a year, if that....i moved to liverpool last september and i never went home over summer or anything, i stayed in liverpool working full time. When it comes to it, i'm quite happy to fend for myself, I just never feel like that ahead of time. it would just be a shame for Sam (girl who stepped in at original replacement) to not come, cos she's my closest friend at the minute, and I can't imagine not sharing Disney magic with anyone.

I guess if I was on my own I could see Disney working it's magic on everyone and I would probably pay mroe attention to it than if I was with other people but I just cant imagine it, and it would probably get me all emotional!

Would it not make accomodation more expensive too??

Hi Kirsty,

Your not having much luck recently are you. Poor thing :wizard: I would pm Suzi who came to our meet. She has been on a few solo trips and loves it. I would definatly go on my own if I meant I was unable to go or would it be better if you and your friends could pospone the trip till say October. You will see the Halloween events and it will give you some more time to save up. :confused3

Good luck and I hope you manage to sort it out. Let us know how your getting on.

I am having a bit of a rough one this week....just the way life goes I guess. Bad luck comes in threes and then it will all be over for a while, but I'll give suzi a message, thanks!!

I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.

Possibly yes, I guess it just depends on your budget and where you will stay.

If I can be totally honest here, as I said earlier going alone wouldn't work for me and I couldn't do it in any circumstances, I DO admire anybody that does.

I think the first thing to do is speak to your friend and find out the real reason she cannot go , it may not be financial after all?

i'm ringing her at lunchtime, and I need to speak to sam too....i just think its strange how she was so quick to say 'cancel it' when she was so excited about it when she stepped in...

Have a chat with your friends and if it is financial then try changing the booking till Oct. The Halloween events, fireworks, parades etc are great and in my opinion worth changing to anyway. Thats me. Good luck.

we cant do october unfortunately with me in uni....i get conventional holidays and definately couldnt miss two weeks fo my final year.

Hi

Oh no! Iforgot you were still at Uni. I am sure Suzi will have some great tips. Also Claire has done a solo trip before.
