What to do with unneeded Southwest Credit?

I've got about $250 in Southwest credit from the one trip I used SW. It expires in October and it doesn't appear I'm going to get anywhere by then. What can I do with it? Will they extend it longer?

I believe they will extend it for 6 months for $50.00. I would call and check, but I'm almost 100%.

You may be able to donate them to charity. I'm not sure if southwest participates, but I've donated through USAirways to Make-A-Wish foundation.

Another possibility is selling it online. I sold a Southwest gift card at Plastic Jungle.

I've sold mine to a friend. I think I sold it for $25 less than it was worth. All they need is your name & confirmation number.

They won't do the extension until the credits expire; then, yes, it'll cost you $50 and you'll have to use the credits in their entirety within six months. Or you can give them to someone, or donate them.

Now I'm really confused. I rebooked and rebooked and ended up with $250 ish. Today I went online to get the exact amount and the number to call, and I can't find that I had any. It has not been a year. Am I looking in the wrong place? I put in the confirmation number and our names.

Well if you rebooked several times you will have several different credits under a bunch of confirmation #'s. Use the very 1st confirmation # and see what you have, then 2nd etc. The final confirmation # you had for the flight will show nothing. The credits stay with the original confirmation# not the one you ended up using. HTH!

Southwest is changing their policy jan of 2011 that you can't sell your credits anymore. I am so disappointed about this!!

It's also a year from the date that you bought the original flights, not when you flew. Has it been a year since you actually paid for the flights? This is the date that matters and not the flight date. It may have already expired if you can't find it.

it usually shows up when the credit has expired if you punch in the confirmation number.
