We have dinner ressies at The Wave at the Contemporary :cool1: . I am hoping to be in MK before our ressies and we will be returning to the MK when we are done.

My questions are... Can we walk to the Contemporary? How far of a walk would that be? What do we do with our stroller while at our dinner? :confused3

Do they have somewhere that we can put it while we eat or would it just be better to leave it at one of the stroller parking areas in the park and then just pick it up when we get back to finish the park  ? I am not even sure if we can do the later of the two.

Sorry, kinda of silly last question but to tell you the truth we have never done TS at a resort before. Only while in the park.

Thanks :goodvibes

(I totally started to hijack another thread so I decided it would be better just to start another :) )

More than likely they will have a place for you to leave it although you may have to fold it! They may even let you take it to your table with you! Ask Im sure they will be able to help! We had a stroller and I don't recall having a problem anywhere some places will let you take it in others have an area for you to leave it at! 1900 parkfare has a door and there is a garden area and that is where they make you leave them! That's just an example!

All the restaurants we went to last time had stroller parking nearby.

I have never been to a Disney restaurant where they didn't have a place to put your stroller. But if you are referring to a rental stroller, then you can return it before you leave the park and get another one when you return after dinner. The rental ticket is good for the day even if you go from park to park.

I don't know for sure but am I correct in thinking that you are not permitted to remove the rental strollers from the park anyway?

I don't recall seeing any of them outside the parks. They don't fold, so nobody could take them on buses or boats.

We ate at the Wave last month and came from MK to dine there. Right to the right of the entrance is a stroller parking area. They are near the restrooms too, and there is an attendant at the entrance of the restaurant so the stroller will be safe. We parked our's there.

Just took us a bit to find the right elevators to get from the monorail to the restaurant and back, you need 2 different elevators.

Enjoy the restaurant, it's yummy!

Thanks :goodvibes and to just clear things up...I will be taking my own stroller. Wouldn't leave without it :thumbsup2

Thanks to the PP, I am very excited about trying the new restaurant out. I am glad hear that you enjoyed it. Nice to know exactly where the stroller parking is too.

You have to take 2 elevators?!?! I have never even been in the Contemporary.

If you walk to the Contemporary you do not need to take elevators or escalators to get to the Wave as it is on the first floor.

The monorail platform is on a higher floor.

Boma doesn't have stroller parking. As a matter of fact, the waiting area gets rather crowded with people waiting for Boma and Jiko. You are basically on your own to find a spot by the rest rooms on maybe room enough for a stroller by the bench. The staff is actually no help at all other than telling you you cant take it with you.
I found it rather odd that at Disney of all places strollers wouldn't be allowed into a restaurant. We heard much about Boma's and got an 7:45 pm res. On the cusp as far as having a 1 year old as far as i was concerned. I imagined that if she fell asleep we could just lay her in the stroller next to the table. Not exactly, the tables are so close you could eat off your neighbors plate.
Well, after waiting for nearly 30 minutes I was ready to pack it in but we were hungry and I figured by the time we got anywhere else and a bite that take another 30 minutes. We got in just before 8:30 and @ 9pm our daughter fell asleep. I had to hold her the whole time.
But, to anwere your question. Easy walk but why when you can take the monorail. Its the first stop. Either way you'll be fine. The Contemporary is quite spacious and should be able to accomdate your stroller.

Took this walk many of times. It's about a 10 min walk. Take the stroller and you can park it outside of the resturant. Although haven't been to the wave yet going in Aug. All Disney resturants allow room for coaches. God knows I've been there with 5 young boys 2 double strollers. It shouldn't be a problem. You will have to leave them outside the resturant.

It's a pretty quick walk to the Contemparay from MK. I think it's faster walk then riding the mono.

I found it rather odd that at Disney of all places strollers wouldn't be allowed into a restaurant.

It's mostly about fire codes. The aisles in between tables have to be free of any obstructions. Also, the restaurant is not going to want guests (in the case of a buffet) or servers having to walk around a stroller.

I'm not sure I've ever really seen a stroller inside a Chili's or a TGI Friday's or an Applebee's either. Not sure why Disney World would be different.

I don't recall that strollers could be brought into Biergarten - in fact they were saying that ECVs had to be left outside if the occupant was capable of walking into the restaurant.

And strollers are not permitted in the Land pavilion at all (although ECVs are)

Interesting, as that's VERY different than our experiences.

We've been to Boma's about 6 or 7 times, all with stroller in tow.

Every time they've had us fold it up and store it near the check in podium. Occasionally they "overflow" out around the fountain area.

But each time (as recently as this past January) they've provided us with a "parking place" and clear, concise instructions.

The reason they don't allow strollers INTO Boma's is because, with all the hustle and bustle, the relative closeness of the tables, and the amount of hot food being transported by the diners (and not staff), they worry about the safety of any "stroller occupants". No one wants a little one jostled or spilled on, they told us.

Sorry your dinner there didn't go as well as you'd hoped....

If I take the monorail, can I take the one that is right in front of the MK entrance and go straight from there to the Contemporary? Or do I have to switch over at the TTC?

And thank you all for all the great info! :goodvibes

No TTC . You take the one right to the Contemporary!

I noticed a typo on my original post, sorry :(

Pilferk, when we went to Boma the 2 or 3 CM"s working the podium were not very accomodating. I happened to state that there was no "parking spaces" anywhere close to the restaurant and (hey, strollers ain't cheap LOL) I'd like to be able to keep an eye on it or place it behind their little area. I was bluntly told no and that I could find a space by the restrooms and not to worry that it would be safe. That's what I eventually did but anyone could of loaded up their kid in my stroller and headed out without a problem.

Once we got seated I understood why strollers wouldn't be allowed but I think its poor planning on their part. There should be a few stroller friendly restaurants that accomodate people with young ones. I really dont know how they would accomodate a wheelchair in that place. So, maybe all the pre dinner hoopla was why I didnt find the food all that it was cracked up to be. It was ok, just not as good as I had hoped. Thanks for your sympathy.

Oh, by the way, same story at Kona Kafe but it wasn't so bad cuz I could see the stroller from where we were seated and that made me feel better.

Gelebean, Roedisney was right on in answering your question. Once the monorail gets rolling its literally about a 60 second ride. Once you get off, the elevator is literally right there and just go down to the first lst floor. There is always a monorail guy there closing and opening doors to direct you if you have a question.

You can take the monorail straight to the Contemporary. It will be the first stop after leaving the MK. If you take the monorail from CM back to MK, it will stop at the TTC, the POLY and the GF before arriving at MK, so the walk might be a smidge faster going back to MK.
