What to do with our stuff while at the resort pool?

My fiance and I are going to WDW for our honeymoon June 11-20 and staying at POFQ :goodvibes

One of my favorite things to do is read by the pool. On our first and only trip so far (back in March 2014), I was the only one interested in going out to the pool (POR) and it was just a little too chilly for me to get in the pool so I never had to leave my stuff.

This time, since it will be June and hotter than before, my fiance and I are planning on spending some afternoons by the pool and we want to swim and use the water slide.

My question: what do we do with our stuff (my Kindle and any other personal items) we bring with us? Is it safe to leave them on our lounge chairs (or in a closed bag)? I don't particularly want to go back and forth to the room to drop off stuff just to come back and get it when we are done swimming but I also want to keep our belongings safe. We will not be taking phones or wallets out to the pool so the only real thing of value would be my Kindle.

you are never 100% safe leaving stuff out, but I have left my phone wrapped in a towel numerous times at disney without incident.

We've always just left our stuff. Never really thought about it. We usually have a tablet or 2, phones, etc.

I usually have a small bag with me when I go to hotel pools (for water bottles/sunscreen/etc) so I stash whatever I have in that.

I always bring a pool bag of stuff, like the above poster stated. I keep sunscreen, sunglasses, phone and cover up. I have never had a problem.

I would never leave cash or my Magic Band in my bag.

No one has ever bothered our stuff.

Same thing that I do with my stuff at the beach, stash our valuables inside our bag, bury it in our cooler or a towel. I feel like the pools aren't that big that you can't keep an eye on your stuff while you're in the pool without feeling like you're watching your items 24/7- I wouldn't leave my stuff unattended for very long and usually I do a check after 10-15 min.

If you are staying at the Beach / Yacht club they have lockers poolside by the Stormalong Bay Pool. Unfortunately there are people who gain access and steal unattended belongings anywhere on Disney Property, just like in the real world. Some of the thieves wind up being other resort guests. You can decide to take your chances or leave the items in your room or see if there are pool side lockers at the resort you are staying at.

Just be sure to be careful and hide things away from prying eyes if you decide to chance it.

Have a great Vacation.

FWIW the band would be fine since you have to have the PIN to make purchases. But the band is waterproof anyway, so leave it on. :)

OP I take a tote bag and put things in there. I wouldn't wrap anything in a towel because CMs do come by and might think a towel is dirty.

Hi we use to do the same things as other posters however we bought an "aqua vault" this year and love it. We use it at the water parks and pools at resorts to put our phones, credit cards whatever we need. There are a few different types I bought mine on Amazon. It basically hooks to a chair and then you lock it. There is a combination to open it.

Thanks everyone! I have never really thought about this in the past but for some reason, it hit me last night - what do we do with our stuff?!?!? I'm a worrier by nature but I think wedding stress is starting to really get to me!

We will probably just bring a small tote and store our few items in there. Although, the Aqua Vault sounds interesting!

Such a good question.

On our first trip in 2004, we brought our beach bag to the pool. We had nothing of value except for our room key card. While the three of us were in the pool, I kept my eyes on the beach bag. Wouldn’t you know some loser walked right up to my bag and started going through it. I quickly got out of the pool, yelled at him, and scared him off. I never saw him around again, but after that I couldn’t relax. We ended up taking turns swimming with one of us always staying with the bag.

On our next trip, we purchased plastic card holders that you could wear while you swim. We bought skinny ones and larger ones that could hold a small wallet. On our last trip we didn’t need them because we had magic bands. The containers are too small for my cell phone.

I am concerned about leaving my purse and phone in the room. I don’t know if the room safe is big enough. Then I have to deal with either a key or combination, not sure which.

I don’t know what I would do with my kindle except to bring actual books on the trip.

It's probably safe enough; nothing would happen, but I don't bring my tablet to the pool. It's just not worth the risk to me. I only bring my phone if I'm not planning to swim. We bring our cover-ups and flip-flops, that's about it. I agree with other posters, if you want something to read, an actual paperback is a lot less risky.

I put everything (phone, IDs, some cash, etc) in the pocket of my bathing suit coverup and then leave that on the lounge chair. We tend to get chairs at the edge of the pool so we are almost always able to see our chairs from the pool. Never had a problem so far...

When I go to the local outdoor spa I take a small backpack, a luggage lock that loops through its zipper pulls, and a small bike lock type lock to lock it to a piece of furniture in the cabana that does not move. I leave my wallet and stuff in there locked up when i head to the pool because the lockers are nowhere near the cabanas.

I would probably leave some personal item next to it, shoes, cover up, etc, so that it does not look suspicious

I never bring much to the pool. Bag with sunscreen, a book, chapstick that’s it. And my resort mug.
I have read about thefts in WDW at resort pools and water parks. Even stealing those expensive Disney towels off your chair. I also buy cheap Walmart flip flops I just use for pool or beach. No way I’m leaving expensive $70 flip flops by pool.
With Magic Band no need to bring wallet. I also download books to my iPad, but bring along a paperback to read at the pool.
Anything of value gets locked in the room safe. Wallets, phones, tablets, etc.
Doesn’t matter if you “hide” valuables in your bag, they just nab the whole bag.

If you are planning on buying a drink at the pool bar you might need your ID. The bartender at the BWV pool was insistent that I go up to my room and get mine before she could serve me.

I usually just shove everything valuable into the bottom of my beach bag and throw a towel or two on top of it. Never had an issue. But, we are usually within eye sight of it most of the time since the pool areas aren't really that huge. And we aren't typically away for long.

This is us as well. We don't even take our phones to the pool....not worth the risk to us.

We like to take photos/videos of the kids/us enjoying the pool, so I will bring down my iPhone at least once. But DH or I will take turns in the pool that time.

All other times, we enjoy the pool as a family, our valuables are left behind in our room and our only belongings poolside are sunscreen, flip flops and coverups.

I leave it on my beach chair, under my towel and hope for the best. Next trip I'm going to remember my beach bag and leave it in there. I will probably bring my waterproof phone lanyard case so I can take pics in the pool. I forgot it last trip.
