Hi all:thumbsup2

We fly home to the uk tomorrow after a 3 way split stay - so for the 5 of us we have 15 magic bands!!:rotfl2:

We return in August and have our annual passes on the bands but also in card form - do we keep these bands for future stays or do they go in the trash?

We've only used one set for the whole vacation - so 10 totally unused bands - it just seems such a waste of money!

Many thanks for any help:thumbsup2

Your bands will work for future trips, estimated 2-3 years worth. But as of now, Disney is issuing new bands for each new trip also.

You're correct, it's a waste. But get different colors next time, and bring the old ones as well if you wish.

Hold onto them.
MS has told me that at some point in the future they will stop send out free MBs and start charging for them or for replacement MBs.

If you go to your MyDisneyExperience site to the "Magic Bands and Cards" link, you will find all your bands and room keys that you got under each guest that you put in your family and firends section for the trip. The bands and cards will show as active and will be usable for the next trip you link for any of the particular family and friends in the list. You can click on any them and deactivate them and reactivate them at any time on the site. If you get new ones, those will be added to the list on the site.

Actually, the RFID chip used by the MagicBand for most features should last as long as Disney continues to use technology that supports it. The features that use this RFID chip are touch to enter (theme parks & hotel room), touch to pay, FP+ line entry, and PhotoPass. This RFID chip receives power from the touch point.

There is a long range transmitter in the MagicBand that is battery powered. This transmitter will be used for attraction photos, interactive attraction queue features, and character interactions. This battery is estimated to last 2 to 3 years.

Thanks everyone:thumbsup2

We are back home in the UK now and I have all 15 magic bands with me!:goodvibes. Will bring them back again when we return in august:thumbsup2

I was waiting in the lobby (I think OKW) to get back into my room after my Magic Band stopped functioning, and an elderly gentleman went to the desk with several bands, still in their box, and offered to return them as they were checking out. The CM said to keep them for his next trip.
