What to do with my luggage?

first post so thanks in advance for all the help.

Going to LA with my wife in late April and we are going to DLR as part of the trip. We have a room at the Disneyland Hotel Monday-Thursday nights but when we realized POTC would be down starting that Monday we are going to come to DL Sunday instead of Monday.

We already have a hotel room near Hollywood we can’t get reimbursed for and are at the beach the day before that.

So my question is, we will be leaving the beach Sunday morning to head to DL and ride POTC as soon as possible. If I have all my luggage and I don’t check in to the hotel until the following day, can I drop my luggage to be held anywhere?

We are not renting a car as we are only traveling by car a few times the whole trip and Uber and Lyft will be cheaper.

Can we store our multiple bags(checked and carry on sizes) anywhere at DL?

Also, how do we pick up our pre purchased tickets? We thought we would get them at the hotel when we checked in but now we are trying to go the day before we check in so as not to miss POTC.

EDIT: ok to clarify. We leave the beach Sunday and would be staying at a hotel in hollywoood Sunday night. We then stay at Disneyland hotel Monday night. We want to go to Disneyland on Sunday during the day. We want to travel from the beach hotel just to Disneyland as going into hollywood and then to Disneyland is 2 hours longer than just straight to Disneyland from the beach.

Thanks.

Wow, that is a bit confusing to try and follow where you are when and what nights.

Almost all hotels will hold you bags after check out or let you store your bags before check in...so either at your hotel Sunday AM after check out or your hotel Sunday night before check in.

I’ve made an edit that I hope helps clarify.

So you will be at the beach Sunday morning, and you would check out of that hotel and go to Disneyland just for the day, then go check in to your hotel in Hollywood Sunday night. Then Monday morning you check out of the hotel in Hollywood and check in to DLH. Is that right? So you're looking for storage for your luggage just for the day, but you won't be checking in/out of any hotels in the vicinity that day?

The only storage option that comes to mind is to rent a locker, but if you have a substantial amount of luggage with you that might not be practical. I seem to remember people saying there were larger lockers available in the picnic area, but I've never gone and checked it out personally, and since they moved security I don't know if you can access that area with your luggage anymore. Another option would be to go to DLH and explain the situation and ask them nicely to hold your bags for the day.

Are you sure that Uber/Lyft will be cheaper than a rental even though you're driving back and forth to Hollywood? That's pretty far. If you haven't already I would suggest looking into the price of renting a car near the beach and using it for the drive to DLR and then to Hollywood on Sunday, then for the drive back to DLR on Monday. That would just be a one-day rental and it would cover a substantial amount of travel and allow you to store your bags.

Also check the price of the uber back and forth to Hollywood compared to the price of a motel for the night in Anaheim. If the only reason you're going to Hollywood is because you have the non-refundable hotel reservation, it might not cost much more to just eat the cost of that Hollywood hotel and stay in Anaheim instead, which would give you somewhere to store your bags (provided the Anaheim hotel will hold them for you until your room is ready) and would save you a couple of hours sitting in traffic and the cost of the ubers back and forth.

ETA: Staying in Anaheim for the night also allows you to be there bright and early Monday morning, and if you check into DLH early in the morning you are allowed to use EMH on check-in day. Technically you could do that coming from Hollywood too, but you'd have to get up insanely early to get down to DLR in time for EMH. I'm thinking that even if it ends up costing a little bit more, staying in Anaheim would be preferable just so you can spend more time resting and enjoying the parks and less time sitting in traffic. Of course if there's a reason you want to be in Hollywood on Monday morning before going to DLR then that changes things.

I would call the hotel and see if you change the date of your stay since you are unable to cancel.

I would first try calling DLH to see if they can help you or have any suggestions. I have a feeling they won’t be able to store your luggage because technically you aren’t a hotel guest until the following day. It’s worth a try though, and they really make it a priority to be accommodating.

If that doesn’t work, I would try calling the Hollywood hotel to see about rescheduling your room there. Call the hotel direct. It’s always worth a try.

If that doesn’t work, I would rent a car for the day you’re leaving the beach. As PP said, you may not find it more expensive than an Uber/Lyft from the beach once all is said and done. Turn it in the next day in Hollywood (that’s where you’ll be right?). Uber/Lyft will be expensive from the beach to Anaheim to Hollywood.

POTC is our favorite ride so I understand why it’s worth making adjustments so that you can ride it before the scheduled closure. :)

Where are you staying Saturday night? Can you leave your bags there for the day Sunday and pick them up Sunday night?

Either way it really sounds like having a car would be easier if not cheaper.

I’ve used those (years ago) and they were for carryon sized luggage (and mine was soft). Not checked size.

Yep. Definitely check. Never assume with transportation.

Yep.

Unless the Hollywood hotel is unbelievably nice and/or expensive, I would eat the cost, let that hotel go and get a motel on Harbor for Sunday night.

Oh, and the one time I tried to leave bags with an onsite hotel they required a same day reservation.

That’s why I used the lockers (that I don’t know if they exist anymore).

So your results may be different but my wife called Disneyland hotel and told them our situation and the desk clerk was nice enough to put a note on our reservation to allow our bags to be held the day prior. We will see if this works when we arrive but she was assured the note was in the system and to ask directly for the cast member in charge if there are issues. So fingers crossed.
