I have come into a lot of chocolate milk and am looking for ways to use it besides just drinking it. I googled for recipes and all I got was milkshakes. I thought I should be able to make chocolate pudding from it but couldn't find any recipes like that. Does anyone have any great ideas? Can I use it to make puddings or cakes or something??:confused3

Are you talking alot of gallons? If it is that much maybe some of your neighbors might like to have some. I dont know of recipes for chocolate milk. If I were eating chocolate cereal I would use it that way.

You can freeze some of it although that will extend the life for only a few weeks. Portion it into not too large containers so you don't have to thaw the entire batch to use just a little.

It is my belief that you can substitute chocolate milk in any recipe that uses regular milk (avoiding obviously absurd combinations).

I work in food service for our local school district. If we have extra chocolate milk that needs used up before a certain date we'll use it for chocolate pudding. We use the same amount of chocolate milk that we would white milk. IMO and the kids, it tastes much better than using white milk.

My MIL uses chocolate milk to make chocolate pudding; always has. I don't eat many dairy products due to lactose issues. Her pudding is really good though. When DS was little and somewhat lactose intolerant, the pediatrician told me to try a little chocolate milk; she said it would be easier to digest. I never did; I was too chicken to hurt my kid. Anyone know?

I just really want to know how someone "comes into a lot of chocolate milk".

Was it an inheritance? :rotfl2: Did your milk man pass away? :rotfl:

Sorry, it's been a silly morning.......

Im curious too...as to how someone comes into a lot of chocolate milk:goodvibes

I think I would see if neighbors would want some, or check out the local women's shelter or something like that.

That made me laugh!! I also wonder how much milk did you get exactly? We go through 3-4 gallons a week.

If you could find a cake recipe that uses milk, I bet choc milk would be yummy in it. Pudding sounds good too.

Ugh, please send some my way! I'm pregnant and this is one of my main cravings. I drink at least three glasses a day!

How indeed does one come into a lot of chocolate milk?

If it's sealed, take it to your town's food pantry. I know ours would be delighted.

OP--do you have an ice cream maker? I would use it to make chocolate or mocha ice cream--you would have to cut down the amount of sugar.

If it's more than you would use, I would start giving it away.

This is what I was going to suggest... I use half a gallon of chocolate milk and a can of condensed milk, just mix it and put it in the maker. If you really like your ice cream chocolately, add more chocolate syrup. So easy and sooooo good. If you make pudding and have tons, you can freeze that too for pudding pops.

Frosty Ice Cream

12 oz cool whip, 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated) and approx. 1/2 gallon chocolate milk. Mix it all together and pour into the can. Freeze according to mfg. directions. Enjoy! Easiest ice cream you'll ever make. And it tastes great!

More along the line of ice cream--couldn't you just pour the chocolate milk into ice cube trays and freeze it? It would be a bit like one of those chocolate ice milk treats you get at the store.

Sounds good, but what is " freeze according to Mfg. directions"? :confused3

This is what I did with some soy milk that I got at a great price because it was expiring.

I made waffles/pancakes from scratch and used soy milk instead of milk (sub for chocolate milk)

Then I called up my Aunt and got her delicious Vanilla sauce to go on the waffles.

Here's the recipe (just sub the chocolate milk for the milk). I'm sure it will taste great as chocolate sauce.

1/2 cup Butter, melted in saucepan
1/2 cup of Flour
3/4 cup Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
3-4 cups Milk (powdered works also)

Melt the butter and add flour to make a rue. When browned add the other ingredients and keep stirring. Take off heat when it thickens (remember it will thicken more when cooled).

Can be used on cake, waffle, pancakes, as pudding, etc.

Oh sorry! This is made in an ice cream freezer. So you pour the mixture into the freezer container, and then put ice and salt around the container and turn on the freezer 9or if you have an crank-type freezer, turn) until it's frozen.
