So we had ham for Christmas supper. Now we have a bit left over, as in more than 1 night's supper. So I need suggestions on what to do with it or how to serve it. Not a big fan of ham so Christmas is about the only time I cook it.

BTW I know the obvious suggestion is Split pea soup. Can't stand it htough Dh makes it from time to time.

TIA

we shredded it up, added some shredded montery jack/cheddar cheese, and made quesidillas out of it..(got a George Foreman quesidilla machine from Santa..lol)..had steaming hot tomato soup with it..was really good!

Well, there goes my suggestion. But I'm the only one who likes it in my house, anyways.

How about "Breakfast for dinner" with Ham And Cheese Omelets?

Send your ham to me! I didn't have any left over and want a ham sandwhich. If that fails, you could make scalloped ham and potatoes, or use the ham in omelettes or some sort of skillet. If pea soup doesn't work, what about bean soup? Or potato soup? I'm guessing that you can throw ham in just about anything!

Ham freezes well, so you could always wrap up little packets of it and freeze it until you're not sick of it anymore.

Other ideas:

Quiche/Omelets
Sub sandwiches with thinly sliced ham
Ham, fried egg, and cheese on toast/bagel
Ham and cheddar biscuits or muffins
Ham and baked beans
Pasta with cream sauce and sauteed chopped ham (and peas, if you care for them)
Macaroni & Cheese w/ham
Green Eggs and Ham :)

mmmm....pea soup with dumplings

Hot ham and mozza cheese sammies on Hawaiian bread.

Potato soup!!

I make potato soup with ham, bacon and cheddar cheese. It's delicious!

First, I peel and cube potatoes and boil them in a pot of water with some chicken boullion. Do not drain the liquid. I then chop, fry and drain some bacon. I add a pint of heavy cream and some milk to thin it out a bit. I then add a package of extra sharp white and a package of extra sharp yellow cheddars - shredded. Throw in the bacon and ham and stir it up until the cheese melts. My husband likes me to add jalapenos. You could also use half and half or just milk if you'd like. I like it to be a bit richer.

Now I need to make some soup!! ;)

Do you like scalloped potatoes? You can layer ham in with the layers of potato. Makes a nice main dish and along with a vegetable can be a complete dinner. ::yes::

I make cheesy potatoes & ham. It's hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese and cubed ham all mixed together. Put crushed up corn flakes on top, drizzle melted butter over it and then bake. It is so so so NOT good for you, but sure is delicious. :thumbsup2

I made black bean soup yesterday. I will be making some split pea soup because dh loves it. We also use it for navy beans. Notice a trend. LOL!!! It is also good in greens.

I usually grind it up with some pickle, add some mayo and make some ham salad.

Chop into small cubes & freeze in 1 cup portions in ziploc bags. Use in mac & cheese, omelets, potato recipes....... over time.

I often buy fully cooked boneless small hams when on sale and just cut them up for future uses.

I'm going to join this discussion.

I have a ham bone with lots of ham.

I love the sound of potato or bean or split pea soup.

But, I need a recipe to follow.

Can anyone give me one? maybe one that uses a crock pot?

Thanks!

You can always do what my mom used to do with leftover ham.....cooked elbow macaroni or shells, tomato sauce and chopped ham.....bake until hot and sprinkle cheese on top.

I can try - I usually cook by just throwing things in. ;)

Potato Soup -

6 medium potatoes - peeled and cubed
Water to cover potatoes by about 1/2 an inch
4 or 5 chicken boullion cubes
1 pint heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1 package bacon - chopped, fried and drained
2 cups cubed ham, cooked
1 - 8 oz package shredded extra sharp white cheddar
1 - 8 oz package shredded extra sharp yellow cheddar

Put cubed potatoes into large pan and cover with water. Add boullion cubes. While potatoes cook, fry bacon and drain. Once potatoes are cooked, do not drain water and add heavy cream and milk. Add cooked bacon and ham. Add cheese and stir until completely melted. Serve and enjoy!! :thumbsup2

You can also add onions, jalapenos, etc.

I have never tried this in a Crock Pot, so I can't help there. :confused3

Hope this helps!
