What to do with last years tickets?

We have tickets from last year - 4 adults with three days left (hoppers) and 2 extras. Should we keep them or trade them in for the new tickets? I just don't want to lose any monies if we trade them in. Maybe there is a site I can look at about this. Thanks!

I am also very interested in knowing the answer to this question. Is there any advantage to trading in partially used PHPs? I had my niece and nephew use 2 park days off 2 passes I had left. This was the first week of February, about 2 weeks ago. No one told me to go turn them in for new passes.

So....should I have? Is there a bonus for exchanging them for the MYW passes?

Depends on your scenario. If I had them I would keep them and save the $140 on my next set of MYW tickets by skipping the hopping option.

I would (again in my situation) buy MYW non hoppers (preferrably 10 day to use over 2 trips) We only hop a couple of times per trip. So with your tickets I would do a 7 day trip hopping 2 of the days and a 6 day trip in the future hopping 1 day.

If you are taking a shorter trip you could do 3 day exp, non hopper and use the other 3 days to hop, BUT that may not be a good deal... OK just looked it up: A 3 day ticket would be $182, and a six day would only be $208. So I'm not sure how they do the math, but surely the credit for the 3 days would be worth more than the additional cost of $26 from buying the 6 day ticket, even if you add the $35 to hop all 6 days it seems like you'd have to come out ahead trading up.

Checkout the Admission And Package Faq Thread at the top of the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies forum. There is a very detailed description of how Disney determines the value of used PH passes and how their value can be applied to new passes.

There is a very good spreadsheet for Excel created by DIS member Rash that can be used to help you figure out whether it will be cost-effective to trade that old PH in on a new MYW pass. Here's a link to a thread where a link to the download can be found: http://130.94.75.33/showthread.php?t=722333&highlight=ticket+upgrade+spreadsheet

Once you turn them in, the ticket becomes biometric...You can't pass it around or use for a family member coming along. We've kept our PH and use it for a brother here, or mother n law there. I feel more comfortable having that flexibility. IMO keep it!

Please keep in mind that you will need to upgrade to a ticket WITH the Hopper Option ($35), WITH the Magic Plus Pack because of the pluses ($45) and WITH the No Expiration Option since your tix are old. I don't have the #s here to figure it out, but make sure you add all those options into your figuring. It will probably be better for you to just keep those and buy new for any extra days you need.

Use the old tickets and buy new tickets for the rest of your vacation -- Usually a poor deal.

Trade the old tickets towards new tickets -- Usually a fair deal. Best if the new tickets are 10 day non-expiring. Would be fair to good for shorter tickets if they didn't have the requirement of buying non-expiration and all the features the old pass had. Extras (plusses) on the old ticket are lost.

Save the old tickets for a vacation when you have accumulated enough old tickets so as not to buy any more -- A good deal.

Save the old tickets for a vacation consisting of 1, 2, 3, 11, or 12 days -- An excellent deal.

Hint: Figure out how much you would spend on new tickets if you did not possess any one tickets. Then figure out how much you would spend on new tickets if you used the old ones either as-is or as trade-ins. The difference could be as little as three dollars.

If you can get your hopping needs down to exactly one day you can buy a non-hopping pass for the rest of the days, use the old pass as-is for hopping, and it is a good deal.
