We live outside Memphis, TN- and tulip bulbs generally turn to mush in our hot summers- someone had said to dig them up once the stems had turned brown and all the nutrients had returned to the bulb- well, I did- and found lots of nice firm bulbs in there- now what do I do with them? Do I store them in a dry place until September then put them in the refrigerator until November when I plant them?
I know this is alot of work for a $11 bag of tulips- but just the thought that I could try this out is fun for this novice gardener.
Also, awhile ago I posted about a plant that my grandmother gave me a part of a plant that had been at her grandmother's house and every descendant gets a cutting of it- they called it a yellow cottonball plant- we found it in a gardening order magazine and it's the double flowering kerria. It grows on long spires similar to blackberry vines but is FILLED with small yellow round fluffy blooms that are GORGEOUS in spring and it continue to blooms throughout summer- but the big show is in the spring.
Thanks for your help!
Tara
