What to do with a dead car?

OP, you might check with your local fire dept. Ours likes to get old clunkers donated so that they can use the vehicles for instructional purposes using the "jaws of life" on them. They give a tax receipt for the vehicle.

We donated our old car to a group at our church that fixes up cars and gives them to needy families.

We got a tax deduction and a family got a car to use.

Also donated... but to the local school district. We got the tax deduction and the school got another car to be used in the shop classes. I believe students are given the opportunity to purchase at the end of the school year ?
