What to do with 12 unused points at BLT?

We are fairly new to DVC (June Use Year) and for the first time have points that were banked that we will not use. I banked 12 pointd fom UY 2011 to UY 2012. My home resort is BLT. I believe I have to use and travel with these 12 points by May 31, 2013 or I lose them? Is there a way to rent these or would people not be interested in so few points? Looking for some help! Thanks

I don't think the brokers will take so few points. They're worth about $120. So I guess it depends on how much you want to recoup that whether you want to try and rent or transfer them to someone. Transferring to another member would make more sense I think, since 12 points may not even be enough for one night anywhere.

There is a Rent/Trade board here in the DVC area - there are stickies at the top with some information. If you don't have enough history on the DIS, you cannot offer your points there without paying a fee.

Thanks. Missed the banking part! OP for $120 I would just eat the loss. I felt that way the first times responded as well, but just didn't post it. Anything else sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me.

You could also consider renting some of your 2012 points along with the banked points for a larger reservation that might be more worth your while if you think you might have extra again.

I am going through the same thing. I have 17 points that I will lose and I have 30 left that I can bank for my sept uy. I do not know what to do. I tried posting but I didn't have enough posts on the boards. Does anyone know how to tell when you can post on the rent/trade boards?

There is a "sticky" over on the Rent /Trade Board that has the requirements. You're probably going to have to pay a fee to rent those points if you don't have enough posts.

Read the sticky, but my understanding is 8 posts each in 4 of the last 6 months. I don't think they're trying to get people to post a bunch, just get consistent posters with some history...

I did the exact same thing when I rented my first time. I was 2 points short of getting my banked points rented, so I threw in 2 points from the next use year to finish the deal. It worked like a charm!

Not sure what your phone is, but mine has tabs on the top for "threads" or "stickies".

you could go on-line and book a studio (if available) at DVC hilton head for 2 nights at 6 pts a nt = 12 pts between these dates (dec 1 to 17 of 2012) and all of Jan 2013 for Sunday to Thurs, nts. only.
Then try to rent this ressie for $8/ $10 a night on the rent/trade board if you are allow.
Maybe some body near HH will take it.

I'd suggest trying to rent them. I picked up someone's points like that at the last minute to snag one night in a studio.

Could you make a reservation for one night in a studio somewhere and let Make A WIsh use it for a family? Not sure if that's allowed or not but it would make someone very happy!!
