What to do... what to do? Upgrade for $200?

for what it's worth, I would personally upgrade, however, i've found that if somebody in the party doesn't really want to spend the extra money, it's best to just leave it alone.

too often it ends up being a cloud over the trip with the one person nitpicking over the new resort choice.

While 100 each isn't a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, the whole upgrade is $200+ over four night, that's $50+ a night. Even if you were paying rack rate at pop during that time, it's still well under 100. Going from $45 a night to $70 a night? that's a pretty big jump.

just my 2 cent.

Upgrade!

The Moderates offer so much more - far less crowded because they are spread out, better dining choices, larger rooms and they are ALL so much more attractive than any of the Values.

Take one break during the day for a 2 hour lounge in or around one of the quiet pools at Riverside and you will be happy you made the choice.

Upgrade!

This is kind of my dilemma right now. Here's a bit more to the story:

I am Disney freak. Sis is not. This whole trip came about because I had a dream (literally) one night. I woke up thinking about how cool it would be to do a sister's only trip to WDW. I called her that morning and she told me to look into it. I priced it, picked the resort and dates and booked it tentatively. When I told her about it she was fine with the dates and the pricing. I got a 30% off rate at (originally ASMo until I changed it) POP for $65 (I think that's right.. lol) a night with tax. The hotel rate was something I felt we couldn't pass up. And altogether we are expecting to pay about $600 a person for everything for the trip; gas, food, lodging, etc. SOOOO... because we are only spending such a minimal fee to begin with, adding another $100 each is actually quite a bit. BUT I am all up for it.

However, she just doesn't get the whole planning well in advance (Disney Commando that I am) thing. I am afraid I've talked about it too much already. We only booked this trip a few weeks ago! If I address this upgrade now I'm afraid she'll say no immediately because she's not into the whole "talking about Disney" thing like I am. I don't want to make too many waves and irritate her to the point of her not wanting to go anymore. And dreading it because it's with a Disney freak!

BUT again, I think the upgrade would be worth it. I guess worst case scenario I can pay for a greater percentage of it. But then I'd have to convince dh since he's footing the bill! LOL

I do appreciate all of the "what would you do" comments. :flower3: I think I may just put off talking about it for a while and then bring up the upgrade with my sister and see what she says. For now I'll keep the reservations as they are and maybe next month I'll give it a shot.

Now, if we decide to upgrade where should we go??? LOL :rotfl2: I've never stayed in a moderate. I've only stayed at ASMu and AKL. So moderates are a brand new thing for me! :upsidedow

I totally love CBR...but the main pool is undergoing/or will be undergoing a major rehab. I would choose a Coronado Springs if the main pool at CBR will be closed. That's just what my family prefers.

A month from know it may not be available. If it is available now I would jump on it and try and explain later. You will love it. The Pop is fun but will be very crowded.

ditto:thumbsup2
i think the more "adult" theming, more/better amenities, smaller crowds & a larger room will convince your DS.
& you're more likely to still love one another after the trip with more breathing room.:rolleyes1

Worst case scenario:

If she somehow HATES the idea of spending another dime, would it be worth it to you to spring for the $200 and call it a birthday gift? Or pay some portion of the increase and ask her to chip in some other portion?

If you're getting the deal you say, and a moderate would meant that much to you, it might be worth booking now (as long as you're sure YOU could absorb the cost if necessary) and broaching the topic later.

:cool1: You won't regret it! You may be able to buy some souveniers with the extra money you you'll have great memories that are priceless!;) :)

I would upgrade to POR or CSR. I think you and your sister would be much more comfortable. They seem less crowded than POP, especially in August.

Well, I guess I am the only Nay sayer.

I would stay with Pop! Use the money for a nice dinner while you are there or better yet, save it for another sisters' trip. Have a spa weekend somewhere fabulous. Now that is what I would call an upgrade! :thumbsup2

Trust your heart and follow your instincts with your sister. Don't allow this to come between the two of you. If you think bringing it up might put a damper on the trip then don't bring it up. This is all about bringing you and your sis closer together and sharing memories. :cloud9: :lovestruc

Your not the only one, newcrew42. I would stay at pop...If your like us, you use the room for sleep, shower and rest...everyone has their opinions....we stayed at asmu and loved it. I would use that extra money for other things...a great dinner, keepsakes, etc. and the memories will be there simply because your at Disney...having an upgraded room does not automatically mean better memories. Whatever you decide, just remember...have fun, enjoy time with your sister and create great memories no matter where you stay. Have a great time!
