What to do we're stuck in the CBR mess!

My sister and I found out yesterday about CBR. So now we have to decide where to go from here. I called CRO and basically was told very nicely, to wait for the call because I'll get a better deal. Which I can understand. But we really don't want to stay at any of the other moderates or all-stars. I know that sounds really bad. We wanted to stay somewhere we had never stayed before.
We seen the deal on the internet for AKL $129. Well we did the ressies for that, thinking we'll just hold and see what CRO's deal is...then decide. As we're printing our paperwork, we see cancelation policy online is 46 days, yup that's right. I seen another posts this morning on that. SO now we have to decide by Sat. and we probably won't from CRO by then.
That would work out to well!!!!

What to do count our losses and stick with AKL, that we can afford. Or hold out and hope for a deal through CRO at somewhere we would like to stay??????????

Any wise words of wisdom????? I know there are alot of people in our boat. Hopefully we can all get a happy solution!!!!

Don't feel like you are alone! We are in the exact same position. We want to book AKL (we were actually mulling over changing anyway, this sort of made our decision for us). I think I've almost decided that CRO will probably not give me any better deal on a savanna view room (which my hubby insists on) than what they are offering online - which is pretty darn good. So I think I am going to go for it and be "proactive". Good luck to you!

if that's the case, just be patient and wait for the phone call. if you were being offered another moderate resort (CM won't put you into an AS), you can politely explain that CBR is the only resort you would like to stay because of this and that. if you are lucky, you might be offered with a free upgrade to AKL or WL, or for a small fee..... that's what I have learned from other people who have had the same experience from the closure of POFQ earlier this year.

i have asked my DU agent to change my res over to POR yesterday and it was a success (although CM gave my agent a hard time). i have never been to any resort before, but i would like to know where I am staying at asap....

I just called my travel agent and he said he hadn't heard anything, and Disney wouldn't just CLOSE a resort for renovations like that... oh yeah?? what about POR last year I asked him... no answer to that.

He's going to call and find out what's going on, even though I told him, he didn't seem to believe me because it was on the internet... I told him it was on a reliable list I belong to..

I just want to know where I'm going to stay... I don't think they'd stick us in an AS, not that they're "bad", but I too wanted CBR, I had done A LOT of research on this resort...

who knows, maybe as what they did with SOG, sending them to the CR, but with my luck everything would be sold out... Thanksgiving week!! UGH, if it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all!!

Ok, so my agent just called back and said, Yes, what we've heard it true. I can change my ressies right now to another moderate or wait and see what Disney offers me. He said where we're going Thanksgiving week/weekend, the moderates may be full after going down the list of ressies, and they may offer an upgrade/better deal...

I hate to wait and find out everything is booked... but I'd like to upgrade if possible, like I said before. Technically, they have to give me a room, it's paid for!!!!

I've spent months going over different resorts. I finally made ressies for CBR last week and now this. I want to wait and see what they have to offer but I really don't want to stay at any other mod. I just don't know what I should do. I'm thinking about AKL. I finally got myself to go for a mod. instead of a value and I think going to a deluxe might just make me cancel my ressies. I am a real "bargain" person. I like to stay for long periods of time and spend my money on other things besides hotel rooms.
I really wanted CBR because of the resort and renting the boats. I just don't understand how they can do this to people.

I find myself in this same boat. I actually had reservations at the Dolphin for forever but when these codes came out, switched to CBR and just last Monday cancelled my Dolphin reservations. So BOOM, Sunday I find CBR will be closed. I really wanted an EPCOT resort to begin with but YC/BC/BW are just too expensive for me. Of course Dolphin's price when up so I can't get that same rate again and now can't afford that.

Last year there were some great stories of discounts but I think most people simply got placed in another moderate or the discount for upgrades was the same as one of the better codes.

So instead of waiting and taking pot luck, booked W/L Courtyard and cancelled the original CBR ressie. At least I know where I'll be and the rate is a very good one for courtyard. I paid more last year and only had standard room.

Anyway--good luck to those that decide to wait it out. Hope you make me green with envy with those good deals you are offered!

I suffered through this exact same thing last year with POFQ. We were less than 3 weeks from our reservation! Our travel agent had no idea (thank goodness for the Dis!), and we had to inform her! We ended up calling CRO and changing resorts ourselves because our TA went on vacation. Fudge a little to CRO if you have to... and get what you want before you're left to settle.
