Forgive me if you feel I am 'buttng in' but it seems that for 2 adults/4 kids to pay $1200 + for two nights at a value resort with only one day in the parks that it is WAY overpriced.
I am guessing that the value hotel is costing you $100 per room with tax minimum or $400.
Did you consider two studios at OKW (4 queen beds, two balconies, 2 small firdges, for 22 points a night = $220 renting from a DVC member and giving you more rrom and a kitchen OR, if your have a couple little ones in the group, getting a one bedroom at OKW for 22 points a night and having a full kitchen, a washer/dryer, a large balcony, abig jacuzzi tub and room to breathe?
With that kitchen, you could skip paying for meals out...unless that is a big part of you reason for going. You could maybe have a character meal if there are little ones or do a show.
And thenif you know you will be coming back, coudn't you buy some nonexpiring multi day passes to bring the per diem down and save the extras for later use? It just seems to me like that is an awful lot of money for one day in MK, especially in summer when it will probably be both hot and crowded, yet you will have to push on through to get your money's worth.
If you do look into the OKW, I have to add that the 1 bedrooms there are 'designed' to accommodate 4 adults. They allow 5 when there is a fam with children....but if you have small kids, I think you'd find the units spacious if you could bring the little guys either into your bed or in sleeping bags on the floor (There is a sofa bed and loveseat in the living room of the one bedrooms)....
Well, just trying to offer up some other suggestions here...If you allow 4 hours to get to Miami and your family doens't mind you arriving late, you actually can make it 3 days at WDW, leaving in the evening of the 3rd day.
That would give you 2 days in the parks and one day to hang out at the pools and look at the resorts, shop, whatever.
Whatever you decide, hope you have a wonderful trip!
