What to do our arrival day?

I am like a couple of the other posters in this thread. As much as I would like to relax after a day of traveling, I can't be at Walt Disney World and not go to the parks...especially the first day. We will be in a similar situation in July. We get in to MCO around noon and we are leaning toward going to Epcot for the rest of that day and stay for IllumiNations. I just love the WS at night!

If it's warm enough, why not make it a pool day? You didn't say if you had kids, but the number one thing young children remember about a trip to Disney is.......the resort pool! (Yup, you just spent a year's college tuition on a fantastic trip so your kid can come home and tell everyone he had fun swiming!) Hang out at your resort, go swiming, have a nice relaxing dinner!

If swiming isn't your thing, check out DTD or go to Disney Quest, or both!

Epcot closes at 9:30 year round, so if you get there at 1:30, that's 8 hours of touring! Thats a full day to most people!

Unless your trip is so short that you need the touring time, I'd just steer clear of the parks, myself.

That is funny that you mention that... cause when we took our kids in 2000 they were I believe 7 and 9 at the time and every day they wanted to go back to the pool!! They probably would have been happy to just be at the pool every day

I would have to say it depends on what kind of park passes you will be using. If you have an Ultimate Park Hopper, I would visit the parks and use that available day on the ticket.

If you are going to....let's say be there for 7 days and you are purchasing a 5-day hopper, I would pass on the parks and maybe visit the pools, DTD or just check out the resorts.

When we visit next time, we will be there for 8 days with a 5-day hopper. We are going to either check out the resorts and go to DTD or go play mini-golf and swim in the evening. If we were doing a package with an UPH, I would be going right to Magic Kingdom.

since we are going at Christmas time we are checking into our resort and if our room is ready, great. If not great. Then we will look around our resort and resort hop until we get to DTD.

You are arriving Sunday? I think FW is a good choice for the afternoon. Spaceship Earth, TT, Mission Space, Honey I Shrunk are all open until 9:30.

You could do the "child swap" at TT in the single rider line:

and actually my DS is big enough to go on TT this time, so hopefully we will be able to FP it for sometime in the evening.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.
