So we are thinking about going in June from a Friday to a Monday or Tuesday. I just realized the Saturday will be blocked for our AP's. The beginning date is not negotiable as it is a birthday. Any ideas on what to do on a Saturday in Anaheim? I'm thinking maybe a beach. Just wondering what else is around to do.

Depending on how long you are staying, have you considered visiting other parks? Anaheim is further inland so you can't really visit a beach without renting a car or bringing a car.

Personally, if I was there with a car I would head down to San Diego and either hit the Zoo or Sea World (the zoo being my priority - I love it there).

We will have a car. How far a drive is Sea World?

Hmm,
I think I would stroll thru Downtown Disney, enjoy the pool at the hotel soaking up the sun, and taking it easy, watch a movie and plan my Sunday trip to the park.
No matter what you do, sounds like you will have a wonderful time.:goodvibes

Knotts is only 10 minutes away. We went there on our January trip and year before we went to Legoland for a day. Our May trip we are going on Saturday (blocked out for us) to Cabazon to the outlet malls and to see the Cabazon dinosaurs.

I'd probably just buy the black out tickets! :) Nothing compares to DL! LOL

If you do that, I recommend just upgrading to the premium. You can't always plan visits around blackout days and once you've done one, within shouting distance of the premium anyways.

Otherwise, just check out something in the area, including Sea World or Universal.

I agree! We usually go on 1 blackout day per year and just buy the ticket. If it was more than one, we would upgrade, but we have never had more than one.

If blackout ticket is not an option, I would say character meal at the hotels, DTD strolling, shopping at Gardenwalk, Newport/Balboa Island.

This is also what I would do

When we were blacked out last year we just stayed at the hotel and lounged around. Went to DTD or to the character warehouse but mostly just relaxed. It was great, gave us a nice rest for our feet. :)

I would also go to the zoo. If San Diego is too far away and too expensive, I'm sure you can get to the LA Zoo within 30-45 minutes, just hop on the 5 Fwy N, and it's only about $10 per person, less for kids. I personally love it there, it's cheap, and you can tour it in a few hours to about half a day, depending on how long you linger. It's obviously not as grand as San Diego, but you won't be wiped out by it either!

Last June on our blackout day we went to Newport Beach for a few hours. Had lunch out and then headed back to rest in the room. After resting we decided to go to Cheesecake Factory for dinner. It was way too busy so we went next door to California Pizza kitchen and then got take out cheesecake slices from Cheesecake Factory to take back to our rooms. We sat out by the pool with our drinks and desserts. It was a really nice day and it was refreshing to get away from the parks for a day.

I wonder if I can manage to go a day earlier so the blockout day is right in the middle of the trip. That would be really nice. If Legoland were cheaper I would do it in a heart beat. I'll have to keep an eye out for discounts for them and Sea World. I think if we can't get good deals for those places we will just use it as a down day to laze at the pool or beach, go to the warehouse and maybe explore DTD which I've neer really done. My husband and I walked through it on our trip but I wasn't hugely impressed.

If Legoland were cheaper I would do it in a heart beat.
If you'll be back anytime in the next three months, Costco has 3-month Legoland passes for about the same price as a single day at the gate. They also have single day passes that are a little cheaper than that. We really enjoyed it.

We will be going to an Angels game on our blackout Saturday. Huntington Beach is a great place. Not only is the beach nice but there are lots of little shops to explore.

We are going in June from a Wed to Wed. I was thinking on our black out day we could go to DTD and take our time there. I always feel a little rushed there like I could be back in the park on a ride. Also thinking we might go to Garden Walk and see how that is. Maybe eat dinner there. Also we are sleeping in that day! :rotfl2:
