What to do next? to get direct perks

Your wife and my wife sound like they would be very good friends. I thought it looked fine. Luckily my wife was able to educate me why the grand Floridian is far better. lol.
Exactly! I also love Poly and she told me it reminds her of a Brady Bunch episode…. I’m glad it’s walking distance from the original VGF building….

I would 100% wait and see Rivera in person. We are huge VGF people and thought we would love RIV and we had the exact opposite reaction. I think RIV is like VGF and you either love it or hate it. When you are talking about that amount of points and with RIV restrictions I really think you need to alteast know you like the resort before you buy.

Well, I don't want to sell anything to anyone :-). I'll just share my experience.

Our first DVC tour and stay was at RIV. We really liked the tour and then decided to book a 1 night cash stay there to see what we thought. Returned again renting points before buying more points. Before both points purchases, we also toured the Poly Island Tower to make sure we didn't want points at Poly instead. I remember on our initial tour at RIV, as soon as I heard about the resale restrictions, I immediately was like, oh, I guess I better buy Poly then instead. But, I ultimately decided that the Poly just did not seem like our jam and if I was going to spend this amount of money, I was going to get what I want.

So, Riviera highlights.

I think what we like the most was that we have felt very relaxed and on vacation while there. Never had a tough time getting a chair at the pool. ....
Thank you so much. I will print this and show it to my wife. I am sold.

Now if it were me, next time I was at Poly with my wife, after she mentioned this, I'd be temped to go full Brady in terms of outfit, maybe from Brady Variety Hour...

The amount of color there is fantastic!

I’d rock the orange suit with the pink dress shirt and an oversized collar!

What did you like better about the SSR GV compared to the RIV GV?
A few things, actually. First, I liked that there was a dedicated entrance on the upstairs part of the room. That way, all the kids could come and go without disrupting what was going on below. We really liked that. Second, IMHO, there is a much larger feeling of space with the ceiling in the Living Room area being double height and the windows allowing all that natural light in. Third, and this was really a benefit, the SSR GV had 4 full bathrooms whereas RIV only has 3. Finally, add in how infinitely better SSR looks after the renovations (compared to before) and we really liked it.

Don't get me wrong, we liked the RIV GV as well, but we actually liked the SSR room a bit more. The icing on the cake was that for our stay, the SSR GV was almost 300 points cheaper for the week...

I'm interested as well. Because I "think" the GVs at RIV are substantially larger than those at SSR.
I believe RIV GVs are second in square footage only to VGF's GVs. As an aside, this is an additional pro for RIV over Poly IMO. Not necessarily the size, but the fact that there are no GVs at Poly (and RIV's GVs can be booked with either about the same or less points than Poly's Penthouse 2 BRs or the Bungalows). I'm sure for some that's an apples to oranges comparison, and probably not that relevant to the OP given the number of points he's considering.
