I purchased 150 points at VGF, and waited ever so patiently for 9 am this morning to try and get the dates I wanted in early December.

Waited on hold for 20 minutes...got a rep.

The points are not in my account because I added my GF's name as an owner, and my guide did not tell me I would be getting a NEW member number. From my point of view my guide really messed up by not telling me this.

So...my guide isn't in...I can't get my new member number...I can not make my reservations....

I am thinking about cancelling the whole purchase.

I wanted to stay at VGF while it was new...but MS can not find out my new account number? I think i taught the MS person some new words. I am soooooooooooooooooo angry

If you don't know the rules and policies, you should cancel and start over.

It isn't clear if you are an existing owner and you added on?

Did you buy before the price increase?

Why didn't you check your account online?

Last I heard, the beginning of December is already booked and I was told that all rooms are declared by DVD so inventory will not increase as time goes on.

I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding.

Not sure I totally understand what happened, but you would have needed a member number & points added to your account to book even without adding your GF to the contract. If adding her meant re-doing all the paperwork and re-signing everything, I guess I understand why your account isn't set up yet.

If the dates/villa you wanted are not available when you call your guide tomorrow, perhaps he/she can figure out a way to pull something from developer inventory for you. If they are, perhaps it can be set aside for you while the paperwork gets done.

Hope everything all works out for you.

If you are still within 10 days of signing the paperwork, you can cancel the transaction and get a full refund. You have to contact Member Services immediately if you want to back out of the deal.

At this time, the Guide you dealt with is not the person who can help you the most on resolving this issue. You need to speak to member accounting or quality assurance.

Did you buy the new GF deed in person or on the telephone? I ask because we bought a new master contract while we were down in WDW at the DVC Preview Center and we were given a new member ID as soon as we signed the papers. We also paid cash for the entire deed, so that might be one reason we were given a new account number.

By the way, I hope you weren't yelling at the CM at Member Services. They weren't the ones to cause the problem and teaching them "some new words" won't help resolve this situation. In fact, it probably exacerbates the situation.

New Owner. I got an account number with my points on wednesday. On thursday I called to make a change and added my GF as an owner. EVERYTHING was done over the phone.

My guide knew what I wanted, and should have told me i needed a new member number...he new i was calling 9 am sunday

And then to open reservations on a sunday and not be able to get me my new account number.......

I was angry, I did yell, but I did not blame him, in fact I told him I understood it was not his fault.

I took the cash I was setting aside for my planned December trip to the World and used it for my DVC purchase. So now my vacation plans for the year may be shot...

There seems to be a reoccurring thing with guides either not giving information out, giving the wrong information or not returning phone calls. I also experienced a situation when i purchased my 160 points in which we were given completely wrong information. I would say either cancel the contract and start over or write a e-mail to member services, trust me they reply and you usually will get someone with some power to make changes to your complete satisfaction.

I think the problem is more like new members don't fully understand what they are purchasing. And sometimes the guide doesn't fully understand the question the purchaser is asking. There is a guide or two that will totally lie to you, but I think most of them will try to respond honestly, but they just don't give you the full answer to your question because they don't fully understand your question.

jerseyduke, you didn't realize by adding the girlfriend to the contract that you were creating an entirely new member number? The new contract is now titled differently, so it requires a new member number.

You won't be able to combine your points from your two contracts for a single reservation. You'll have to transfer from one to the other to get points to use at seven months out.

The same thing happens when you purchase a new use year. Even if you title the new purchase exactly the same.

Adding your GF is a new contract because you now both own as equal partners. You each own 50% and can't sell without the others permission. If something should happen and you split, or if one has money problems, it can cause the other person problems. Because this is a legal and binding real estate contract, it has to be prepared correctly and due to the flood of people buying, they didn't get your account set up in time.

If you are happy with your new contract, contact your Guide on Monday and see if you can get some help making your first reservation.

jerseyduke asked about adding the girlfriend on June 20 and was already told all the bad news. Guess it didn't change his mind.

And I agree with Bill to contact your guide and ask him to get your the reservation you need. He should be able to make it happen.

June 20th, I can't remember what was posted this morning. :goodvibes

Remember, you are buying a timeshare. You have many decades of travel plans to be arranged in the future. If you get upset with just 1 year, how about the remaining 49 years? This is only 2% of travel quota affected... so look at the 98% full of the glass and not 2% of empty glass.

I think things will work out. Like others said, just call your guide on Monday.

The one consolation you have is that you have about 1.5 months to get it straightened out before non owners can book at GFV for December.

All I can do is call my guide monday.

What angers me is that A. He neglected to say that I needed a new number, and in the conversation when I added my GF, I told him I was calling at 9 am Sunday morning to try and get in december ressies

Oversights happen....fine. How can Disney not have anyone on staff to help me when they open up booking to all new owners? They got my first contract set up the 19th....couldn't redo it?

(Not to mention I was originally told I could book on the 19th...then that was changed to sunday)

Now i may have to change it again, and do it for less points so I can pay for my december vacation out of pocket.

I do not see any other way of seeing it other than my guide neglected to tell me something very important.

The most difficult trip to book is your first especially if it is during a high occupancy time at a highly regarded resort.

When we called the first time in '08, we really didn't understand how important that 11 or even the 7 month window is. We quickly learned.

There is a lot of information to give new owners. What is important to one potential owner is not important to the next. So unless you specifically said, "If I put my GF on the contract, will that prevent me from using my points immediately? and/or "I'm wanting to attempt to book for December 2013, will adding her mess with my plans to call on Sunday, June 23rd? And then if your guide didn't share with you, then, he was neglectful.

The sad fact is that you are expecting too much from Disney.

The Guides sell timeshares, once the initial paperwork is done, they have nothing to do with you. Many don't know anything but the selling part that they were trained to do. There is a Quality Assurance team who fixes the contract problems that the Guides make, you should be contacting them in all reality.

Member Services makes reservations, that's it.

IMO DVD/DVC/Disney makes more mistakes than they should. We have had contracts messed up, wrong UY, wrong names. We have had reservations disappear, points removed from our account by mistake, points added to our account by mistake, room requests not added to the reservation even though I was told that it was, (this has happened several times). Names changed on reservations, names added twice, names deleted from reservations.

Some owners will call several times per day because the wait list process doesn't always work. Some will hang up on MS until they get a CM that they can work with.

DVC rooms aren't really known for their great condition. They will show more wear between refurb cycles, items are often damaged and not repaired or replace in a timely fashion. Mousekeeping doesn't always do a great job, rooms may need some extra attention, they skip cleanings, try to clean on the wrong day or in our case get caught sitting on the sofa watching TV. Once we had Mousekeeping and Maintenance watching TV.

My point in telling you all this is that you are entering into a relationship that you have little or no control of. If you are upset now, you might be more upset later.

:earsboy: Bill

But IMHO DVC rooms are actually in as good or the same shape as Disney hotel rooms. And that IMHO is the issue. Disney thinks they are world class in hotel management. Sadly they are far from that standard IMHO

The staff you would need to help you with that new contract work Mon-Fri.
