Here are our current plans:

Leave Friday 2/20 and fly into MCO then drive to Tampa to stay with my parents. They rented a condo for the month of Feb.

Saturday 2/21 Beach Day since we will be getting in so late the night before.

Sunday 2/22 Deep sea fishing in the morning 8-12. No plans for afternoon

Monday and Tuesday 2/23 and 2/24 No plans

Wednesday 2/25 Leave early AM for WDW at Wilderness Lodge

Here is my question. What is there to do in Tampa on Sunday night, and Monday and Tuesday? DH is not sure about Busch Gardens (he gets bad motion sickness so most rides won't work for him) and I am not a beach type of girl. I live on the lake and I can sit at the beach all summer! DH was interested in the Museum of Science and Industry, but their website isn't working so I can't get any info on it. Anyone been?

Also, we're thinking of leaving Tampa Wed. morning and going to WDW a day early and staying at a Value using our AP discount. Or even calling to see if there are any DVC rooms since we have 27 points left for this year.

What do you all think? Are their activities for Monday and Tuesday in Tampa to entertain us? Or should we just bite the bullet and go to WDW a day early?

Have never been to MOSI but I hear it's pretty good. The Florida Aquarium is also highly regarded. Ybor City has some funky shops with the Columbia Restaurant a world-famous place to enjoy a different kind of lunch.

We were there 1.5 weeks ago. Went late morning, but not much happening. Heard it starts getting busier into the night-time hours.

Had a great Cuban sandwich, though! :goodvibes

The Museum of Science and Industry and the Florida Aquarium, both located in St Petersburg, are excellent. Of course I think you cant beat St Pete Beach for a beach, but thats me.

Busch Gardens is more than just thrill rides.
I would also recommend Lowry Park Zoo.

yep.. there is a lot to do at Busch Gardens.. I would spend a day or two there..I have been to MOSI and it is nice.. about a 1/2 day nice..

DH gets bad motion sickness so I don't think we'll be going to Busch Gardens, although we originally planned to. He'll be able to ride two rides and that will be it for the day. Meanwhile I'll be dying to ride more rides, but I'm too wimpy to go on alone!

I think we've decided that my AP for Universal does not expire until 2/25 so we're going to go to Universal Tuesday morning and stay at a value Tuesday night. Monday is still up in the air!

MOSI is awesome. A lot of "hands on" activities. There is also the Dali Museum in St Pete. which is not a far drive from Tampa. (just over a bridge). You also may want to check out Channelside. Hope you have a fun trip!

Thanks for the replies! We enjoyed fishing, but it wasn't what I thought it would be at all! On Monday the whole family went to Ft. Meyers to see the Red Sox. DH and I stayed at the condo, went and saw a movie, met them at the manatee viewing center and then went to lunch with them at the Seafood Shack. We wanted to fly the kite we bought but we ran out of time!

Okay i'm a tampa girl...here's a list

MOSI...lots of fun and plenty to see

Lowry park Zoo in Tampa

YBOR, Tampa...a few stores, plenty of places to eat, and Gameworks (grownup chuckie cheese)

Channelside, Tampa...stores, IMAX theatre

My personal favorite is St. Armands Circle....by the beach, a ton of cute stores, close to Dali Museum

Also interesting is the Ringling Museum which is also close to St Armands Circle

Busch Gardens has other stuff besides roller coasters, they have really beautiful shows and plenty of animal exhibits, as well as a few tamer rides.

Have fun, there's a lot of history to Tampa, enjoy checking us out!:thumbsup2

Just so no one gets confused St. Armands circle is in Sarasota, but the Dali Museum is in Saint Petersburg....about 45 miles from St. Armands Circle :goodvibes
