We're taking DS16 up to audition for a DCI Corps (drums) this weekend near Charlotte,, NC. So Dh, DS6 and I will be in Charlotte Friday night, all day Saturday and til around 2 on Sunday. PLan on just relxing Friday and Sunday, but we're looking for something to do on Saturday.

We'll be at the Embassy Suites on N. or S. Tryon. Years ago we took older DS and DD to the Discovery Place Museum and thought about doing that...... is it still good? Anything more fun? I checked Carowinds and it's closed.... Any ideas?

Many Thanks!
Beth
(Will also take any pixie dust for DS16 to make Carolina Crown!)

Meh...not the most happening city on the planet, but there are a few things to do. There is the South PArk mall. Carowinds is closed as you mentioned. Sundays makes downtown look like a ghost town...not a car in sight...it'ts eerie. You could always go check out the Charlotte speedway if your into NASCAR.

Thanks! Anyone else live in or been to Charlotte??

Discovery Place gets my vote. I'm trying to think of what else might be good for you to do. If I can think of anything else I'll let you know.

Good luck to your son!

Check out www.charlotte.com for plenty to do. We have lots of theaters here plus Discovery Place, the Mint Museum plus a new museum but I forgot the name. Carowinds is starting to do weekend Xmas stuff so check with them again. Concord Mills is an event in itself! Check to see if the Bobcats are playing at home too-in our new arena. Good luck to your DD hope she does well. Have a great time in our beautiful city.

Shopping at Concord Mills or there is a nice new mall - Northlake. Discovery Place is still pretty good, and there is a new library/performing arts center called ImaginOn (www.imaginon.org). The Southern Christmas Show is here this week at the Merchandise Mart, that's always fun.

Enjoy your stay and good luck to your son!

Ooouuu! These sound like some good options! Thanks! I also checked and ya'll are looking at some cold temps this weekend! Love it!

Concord Mills has a Nascar park that has several go-kart type rides, 1 is indoors. There is also a movie theater there, and many restaurants around the mall. Also a Jillian's that has bowling and a large arcade. We are usually in Charlotte only for Panthers or Bobcats games.

I'm not sure if there are tickets available or if you want to spend that much, but Cirque du Soleil (sp?) has a show next to Lowe's Motor Speedway.

I just have to pipe in here....we have been to many US cities and have decided that if we could not live in So CA (in our opinion the best place to live) that we would live in Charlotte, NC. It is a beautiful new city with greenery everywhere and the people are so nice! Anyway, have a wonderful time and remember that Charlotte is a truly awesome place to visit :flower:

Winterfest at Carowinds doesn't start until 11/25. Everyone else has some great ideas. There are more things to do around here now than even 5 years ago.

Is your son auditioning in Fort Mill????
