We're taking our 2 boys (9 & 6) for their first trip to WDW. We're staying at POFQ. We're anticipating them being a sleep each night by 9p.m. at the latest. Can you take drinks from the lounge up to your room (we figure one of us can be a drink gopher)?
Thanks :earsboy:

Last year we were passed out along with our children. All that walking made us so tired. Michelle

You can take drinks wherever you choose from the lounge.

Gotta tell ya though, when my kids were 5 & 9...then a year later when they were 6 & 10...We THOUGHT they would be drop dead tired by 9:00 pm, but they never were, they were ready to go and do everything!

I have to agree with Bob NC, especially if you plan on taking a mid-day break. We did and our kids 4 and 1 usually lasted until 10:00 every night!!!

For some reason, my kids have more energy at WDW than anywhere else.

It's usually my DH and I who are ready to pass out--while they are wide awake!

I have to agree with the other posters...my eight year old goes into overdrive at WDW...no early nights for her!

We took our ds (2.5 at the time) last year. This is a kid that regularly takes a 2-3 hour nap and goes to bed no later than 8:30. Ha! We got to WDW and he never napped (except 20-30 minutes in the stroller) and he stayed up until atleast 10:00 everynight! Amazingly he never seemed especially tired or cranky--well, there was that one incident at the fountain at DTD; but that's another story......;)

You can bring drinks back from the lounge, order pizzas to your room, and from some hotels, you can watch fireworks. We enjoy the MK fireworks from the Poly, and the Epcot fireworks from Swan/Dolphin, as well as CBR.

:smooth: :smooth:   ;) ;)

If we are not too tired to crash witht the kiddies, we read or play cat's cradle:jester:

Seriously, we usually have a bottle of wine we got from the store, or sometimes I even have a flask of vodka I brought with me from home.

My kids have always lasted longer then I anticipated.....they do seem to get that second wind at WDW:D :D :D :D

I worried about this our first trip also!! Hubby and I were hoping the walkway was wide enough at the POR to take the chairs out and sit outside the room so we could talk, have a glass of wine and not disturb the kids. WELL! I was very surprised to discover that I was quite content to go to sleep at the same time! Between 9 and 10pm this family of 5 was sawing logs!! :) Our kids aren't babies either, 9, 7 and 4.

My kids are usually asleep by 8:30 here at home, but at WDW they are energizer bunnies!!!! ;)

We always say we're going to stay up and have a drink on the balcony after the kids go to bed, but usually we fall asleep! ;)

We just returned from a trip with our DS 1yrs & DD 8yrs. They do not sleep ever. My husband and I were so tired by the time we returned to the room, but the kids were wide awake. My daughter had to be forced to go to sleep, sometime around 11 pm

Do not count on them falling asleep. My son was tired around 9:30, so I took my daught to the pool. The AKL pool is large and I let her just swim until she was tired. This seemed to work

I also agree either our DD had abundent energy to keep going late into the night along with us or we all crashed out together!

But by all means if you find yourself and spouse awake and the kids asleep enjoy a drink and each others compnay, the lounge will oblige!
