Hi
Someone asked me to find out what you have to do if you have a criminal record and want to go to Florida?
I have no idea as we have always just got Estas approved as neither of us have any "history"!
I thought I read some where that you have to visit the embassy?
Can anyone help?

TIA :goodvibes

Yeah you should apply for a visa when you have a criminal record:

You will also probably need a visa if you fall into one of the following categories (Note: this list is not exhaustive).

You intend to stay longer than 90 days
You intend to travel to the US for a reason other than business, pleasure or transit
You are conducting official government business
You have been arrested (even if not convicted)
You have a criminal record
You have a serious, communicable disease
You have been refused entry to the US on a previous occasion
You have been deported from the US
You have overstayed during a previous visit

You can find more information here: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and...y-country/north-central-america/united-states

You need to make an appointment with the Embassy. I have read that it can take quite a bit of time for the procedure, and some come to Belfast Embassy as its apparently a lot faster to get an appointment

My understanding is it takes time to get a visa.

Tell your friends not to book anything until they have got the visa sorted.

They will also need to factor in the additional cost of the visa and expense/time off work to visit the embasay.
