What to do if it rains?

Throw on a poncho and keep it moving! We fly out from RI so a lil rain should never affect our day!!!

I love this board!

I (and DW) generally get strange looks when we tell people that rain doesn't interfere with our trip. Pull out the ponchos from the dollar store and keep going.:cool1:

Many people disappear after the water comes down. Lines disappear as well.

I agree about the shoe idea. We never had a problem until we went in late June and early July. The shoes got so soaked, we could have used an extra pair. I remember being in the laundry holding the dryer door for an hour while the shoes went through the cycle. If I let go, one of the shoes would knock the door open and stop the dryer. Had a wonderful time talking with many of the people stopping in to check their laundry and asking what I was doing holding the door closed.

why are people so afraid of a little rain? :)

buy dollar store ponchos

Definitely bring extra shoes! On our honeymoon it rained every afternoon and we each only packed one pair of sneakers. By the third day of wearing wet shoes, our feet were just gross, as well as the shoes being smelly!

I'm really not a fan of ponchos, my first trip to WDW was in late august / early september of 2008, and it was when Hurricane Fay decided to park over Orlando for the first 4 days of our trip. It rained, and it blew, but the parks stayed open, it stayed warm, and we walked onto every ride because most people stayed back at their resorts for some silly reason. We ditched any thought of ponchos after day 1. We're used to cold, wet weather, so aside from a few chills when we entered restaurants or other inside attractions, we just trucked through and had a blast.

The youngest person in our group was also 13.... Though I don't mind getting wet myself, I'm sure if you have little ones, you'll want to keep them dry whenever possible.

I guess the main message is... Rain won't stop the Disney magic.

Oh, and regardless of the forcast, you can expect a 20 minute downpour once a day in the early afternoon. Maybe it's just the time of year we usually go, but it sure is consistent!

you just get wet. Don't alter your plans at all. We've been to Disney 29 times and Iam fairly certain that we saw some type of rain every time. Park doesn't change it just gets wet, why should you. Rain or Shine, it will be the best time ever.

Yes, I agree with the many other posters who said to just get ponchos and go for it! But might I suggest that if you buy ponchos from the $ store, buy several for each person. I've found that they really aren't meant to be used more than a few times each. In the $ stores near me, they sell them 2 for a $. I bought several packages. I really don't like to wear them, so we would just toss them after we were done and use a new one the next day or the next time it was raining. Much better than having to carry around wet ponchos when it wasn't raining IMO.

Have fun! =]

Same thing you'd do if it wasn't raining! I was there in May smack dab in the middle of the worst rain I've ever seen, and we still did everything we set out to do. Word of warning, though, the ponchos that Disney sells are definitely not made to last more than about 2 days or so. Our ponchos ripped very quickly, but I doubt you'll have the kind of rain that last May saw. Have a great trip!!

Rainy days are a gift at Disney. Last time we were there, we had one rainy day so we decided to do the Studios, since most everything was indoors. Well, we got to ride TSM FOUR TIMES before 11:30 a.m.!!!!! Twice with FP and twice on standbye.
We just put on our ponchos and did everything we wanted to do. The only thing that was crowded was the Animation Academy, believe it or not.

We were there for Fay too. We stayed at POFQ. DS21 was in from Alaska so, "The Show Must Go On," and it did. AK was open and that was our park for the day. Yes, we got wet, yes we had our ponchos on and it could have been worse. Went on Kali River Ride and boy it was fun. Saw the Nemo show for the first time and it was beautiful. Went on Everest in the rain and it was still as fun as it could be. We'll always remember Disney and FAY day.

Enjoy your time and bring your poncho!!:wizard:
