What to do for DDs Sweet 16?

Wow, seriously?! A vacation just because its her birthday?

Will you adopt me? Pretty please? :cool1:

Why not just a party? For my 18th birthday all I had was a BBQ in the back yard and that was 2 years a go!

Hope she has a nice day whatever you decide on :)

 I can see how some people might think this is a spoiled kid. She's not. She works incredibly hard at school and takes dance 11hrs a week. She helps me with her younger brother, who is severely handicapped and she sometimes teaches singing/dancing classes to younger kids.

Originally, I had not thought of taking any kind of a trip for her birthday. Since I work for the school system (and she is still in HS) we are somewhat limited as to when we travel; our spring break falls right at her birthday, early April. Last April she opted to take 4 of her friends camping with us in the North Georgia mountains.

Didn't want anyone to get the idea that we're raising a spoiled brat here. None of us has ever been on a cruise and we've only ever been to WDW about 3 times. However, we *do* love to travel in the U.S. and we have an RV, so I think that's why she first thought of WDW. We camp a lot.

Today DD asked me if we could perhaps go down to New Orleans to celebrate her birthday! :dance3: We love N.O. and it would be a family trip. She wants to stay at a local State Park, because we can take our trailer for $8/night and eat at Bubba Gumps:laughing:

Now that sounds like fun! Have a great time!

We did DD's Sweet 16 at WDW last year, and I can tell you it was definitely something we will all remember forever. They really know how to do it right!!

I see you're from GA...like me! Have you thought about Atlanta?

One of the things we thought about for DD was to find a concert she really wanted to go to, and let her invite several friends. We would have gotten them a suite at the Westin downtown, which is right across the street from Hard Rock Cafe, and done the concert and Hard Rock one day, then maybe Spa and a nice fancy dinner the next.

Or instead of going to the spa, we thought about shopping all day, and having someone come to the room after for massages and mani/pedi's. Then letting them have room service in their PJ's and watch In Room Movies all night.

Well..since we did WDW instead, I'm saving this idea for another occasion!:goodvibes

DD's best friend who she met through the magic of the Disboards, had a really cool Scavenger Hunt for her Sweet 16. Her mom..CraftyMouse...put a lot of thought into each thing they had to do. DD said it was honestly the best party she's ever been to.

 Atlanta? I guess. We live about 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta, so we've done most of the attractions. But I like your idea of going to hotel, room service, etc. DD would think she was really living!

I'm pushing Savannah a little bit, too. Savannah reminds me of New Orleans a little, with it's hanging moss, the old cemetaries, the river front...the Pirate House :rotfl: She's never been there and I think she'd like it.

DH is from Savannah, so that would definitely get his vote.:thumbsup2
