Hello to all. I need help/suggestions as my husband and I have a trip to WDW planned in May. I LOVE Disney and can't wait till my next trip, however I apparently did not marry well as my husband HATES Disney and only goes because of me. This is where I need help/suggestions, we are Florida residents so we usually go to WDW at least 3 times a year and usual just go to the parks each day. Since he really does not like Disney I want to try to plan things that are different than our usual trips.

Do you have suggestions that we could do during our trip that would be relaxing and maybe not feel so "Disney" to him???? Our kids are grown and out of the house so it will just be the two of us, we both grew up in Florida so regarding beaches/water sports it's "been there, done that" which is why I'm having a hard time finding anything different to do. He likes to fish and I've suggested going fishing while there but his response is always the same no matter what I suggest, "it's too expensive."

I've read past posts/responses and enjoy reading all the input everyone has so I know you will come through for me with suggestions.

:thanks: in advance for your help.

Wow....this is a tough one...he sounds like my Dad, and I wouldnt even attempt to take him to DW....lol
Maybe you can coax him into doing those things that are obviously atypical for him. Try having him do Mickeys Philharmagic, and maybe Muppets 3D, Finding Nemo, Little Mermaid etc.... Sit on the benches by the castle and people watch, go over to AK and walk thru the paths and enjoy the animals, go to DTD at night and ride the boat from the West Side to Pleasure Island and back again, ride the ferry to some of the resorts you have never been to and do a walk thru. Ride the monorail tot he different resorts, go to AKL and walk thru. Coronado Springs Resort is a nice quiet walk around their lake area (but long)

and if all else fails....LEAVE HUBBY AT HOME :goodvibes and join the group that will be there from this board :)

What about going to Cape Canaveral and watching a NASA launch?

Give him a Florida guidebook and have him look through it.

One of our favorite things at WDW is the variety of restaurants. Make some ADRs at places that would appeal to him. And consider restaurants in the resorts as well as in the parks.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

that's my DH - only comes along to keep me company

so.....

i let him pick all the ADRs - that way if his tummy is happy, and he likes where he's eating, he won't complain as much.

i get the same deal when we go to vegas - all the places we eat there are my choice! (i don't gamble, smoke or drink - now shopping, that's something i'm really good at!)

Well, you have a wonderful husband. Make sure that he knows how much you appreciate him doing this for you.

Now, there must be SOMETHING that he "kind of" likes about WDW. Does he enjoy the entertainment like you see at EPCOT (Off-Kilter, British Invasion, Candy Lady)? If he does, maybe you could build a little more of this into the park visits.

Does he enjoy the "resort" atmosphere of WDW? Maybe you could spend a little more time at the pool.

Our kids are older so my DH and I are finding ourselves at WDW on our own. We camp at Ft Wilderness for a 2 week period each year and only go into the parks 2-3 times each visit. The rest of the time, we just enjoy being in the wonderful Florida sunshine (we go in the spring) and the change of pace from our jobs. We sit in our chairs and read the paper and drink coffee - then go for a walk down to the marina and ride the ferries ... no particular place to go ... just enjoying life.

Last year, we drove into Celebration and walked our dog around the central park/lake area and then ate on the patio of one of the downtown restaurants.

Ah, life is good.

Just some thoughts ....

All the resorts are wonderful! They have different themes and restaurants! If he is outdoorsy you could go to Fort Wilderness and do a carriage ride at fireworks time. You'll stop and watch them from the beach! Do a dinner show, or spend time at DtD. If you haven't seen Cirque, it is a must do! Mostly, take time to relax! Have a very special dinner one night. Have a drink by the pool and remember why you married each other! :goodvibes

Golf? Mini-golf?

Illuminations cruise?

I agree Epcot might be more his thing, but sounds like you've done that before.

The problem is that if he thinks fishing is too expensive, lots of other things probably will be as well.

OOOH....Driving school at the sports complex??
