What to do about the Easter Bunny???

I just realized that are cruise ends on Easter Sunday (wow it is late this year). Our 5YO DD will be with us and I'm not sure what to do about the Easter Bunny. My DH says to just leave eggs/basket around the house for when we return that night - I will probably do that - but I think she should have something to wake up to.

Any suggestions?

Will she seriously know it's Easter if you're on a cruise? Why not just wait and do it the next Sunday or some day before you leave? Then you don't have to cart everything with you.

Hi! If you're on the 4/21 3-night Dream cruise, come and join us on the DIS Boards' "Meets" thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2493288 :)

A little off topic, but when the tooth fairy had to come, Tink ended up visiting us, and leaving Tink stuff, instead of the usual tooth fairy fare.

Catholic school....yes she will know more about Easter than I have forgotten.

We are only on a 3 night - so it will be fresh in her head.

I vividly remember the year Santa came early to our house, we were going to be gone Christmas morning. I can't remember if Santa brought anything Christmas morning, but I remember being so surprised and "special" that he came EARLY to our house!

i say just leave it at the house and when you get home. there it is !!!!! and then later you dont have the "why dident santa or the easter bunny visit wherever " :thumbsup2 just know that they come only to the house

Before you leave to go on the cruise, sit down with your daughter and write a note to the Easter Bunny explaining that you are away on a Dis cruise. I bet he writes a note back saying how lucky she is and that he has left her basket and eggs hidden for her to find.

I am leaving with my son for our cruise ON Easter Sunday, but have to fly out at about 6am. He's still a believer and is still into it, so we're leaving a note for the Easter Bunny telling him we'll be on the Dream on Easter Sunday and i'm packing some stuff for an Easter Basket for him in our stateroom. They're only young once and if I can make his cruise even better . . . why not?! :goodvibes

I would do it on the cruise. Santa conveniently visited our hotel room at Christmas, and it was one of the few reminders that it was a special day. Just be creative - instead of a basket, you could use a really cute bag that would be easily collapsible. Plastic eggs can be prepared ahead of time. All the basket/bag goodies can be packed in a carry-on bag, in your luggage, or purchased at a gift shop. At Christmas, DD never questioned the extra suitcase we carried along.

You could get her a cute stuffed bunny/chick/other easter item for her to find on the ship that morning, along with a few easter candies or small surprises. Include with it a note from the Easter Bunny saying that the surprise is just a taste of her real treat; the basket that he left waiting for her at home because he knew she'd be traveling that day. That way she gets a treat & it builds a little excitement over the basket waiting that's waiting for her later.

Here's my thought:
Ask your stateroom host/hostess to hide eggs that you provide while you are out the night before. (Be sure to give an extra tip of course)

You could handle this a couple of ways:
Before you leave write the easter bunny asking if he could come to the ship a few hours early so she has time to find everything before bed time, as you will need to get an early start when leaving the ship.

Or

You could simply explain that the time out at sea is a little different, so the Easter Bunny came a little early.

I would hide toy-filled eggs (no problems with rodents or spoilage) around the house before you leave (if possible), and the basket out at home before you leave. Then, that morning, on the cruise, I would have a special card from the Easter Bunny saying, "I left your surprises at home, since I knew your cruise ends today! Hoppy Easter!" or some such.

Just one minor warning--we had a very bad situation in which we were on vacation shortly before Christmas, and my mother-in-law (who lived across the country from where we were at that moment, and a long way from our home as well), took a turn for the worse and died before we got there. We had to bury her the day before Christmas Eve, and we could not return home until Christmas Day, between settling accounts and seeing relatives.

It was very hard dealing with the Santa Claus situation at that time--if my daughter thought Santa only came to the house, it would have made our lives a living nightmare at that moment--as it was, it was no picnic. (Santa left a stuffed toy and a condolence card regarding her grandma.) Hopefully, nothing so miserable happens to anybody else, but be careful with "only"s--you never know what can happen.
