What to do about height?

We got back two weeks ago from a week at WDW. DD4 was borderline on the 40" (we knew from measurements at doctors and a measure at home). They only checked her height twice. Once for Kali River Rapids (she meet the 38" requirement) and once for Soaring (with shoes on the bar was hitting her eyes). She road Splash mountain (first ride there) they didn't check, she rode BTMRR, they didn't check, she rode test track - they didn't check. I honestly think it depends on the CM at the entrance.

On note on TT, if your child rides it sit them on the outside with the crossover seat belt rather than the middle with just the lap belt. DD sat in the center and was jolted around a lot.

That was our experience last November when DS was just barely 40" tall. I had prepared him for not being able to ride certain things, but he was never measured. In fact, he was measured more this past trip (two weeks ago), and he's 41.5" tall now. lol

OP, Sketchers sells this style of tennis shoes called "Pretty Tall." They do have a slight heel in them (nothing major, but bigger that a normal tennis shoe heel). Coincidently, my already tall DD loves them.

So the cast member came back with a card, and gave her to her, the card said that next time she came back and was told enough she and her whole family could go up to the front of the line, and she would be sort of like the leader. Needless to say that made her super happy and we had ice cream while we waited for mom.

Yep, from earlier in the thread:

...some of the attractions have certificates the CMs can hand out for a 'fastpass' experience the next time you go.

Not at WDW, but at DLR we got one of those. Had an incident on Star Tours with a CM at the second stick pressing down on DS, and managing to slip a piece of paper above his head, sigh, before hubby realized he needed to be proactive (stand big and tall!)...a CM did give him one of those cards, and when we used it we got *serious* front-of-line access, it was incredible. :)

With that said, I'm not trying to highjack your post, but does anyone know if when Disney says 40 inches is it really 40 inches, or is it maybe 40.5 inches so that they can take into count for tennis shoes. Or is it 40, so a 39.5 with shoes could pass. I think we will be fine with my DS this November, because with his crocs on he is measuring 41.5, but I wanted to kinda know if the 40 inches is 40 or if it's really more. Thanks. And here is tons of growing pixie dust for your DD :tinker:

In our (limited) experience, our girls got to ride everything (BTMR, Test Track, Soarin') on our first trip. I knew they were close, but I put them in regular gym shoes (not extra tall ones, the shoes we chose were white to match their princess dresses and be comfortable for walking :lmao: ), anyway - they measured just tall enough to hit their heads on the stick when measured - and six months AFTER our vacation, they measured exactly 40" in socks at their next doctor appointment.

My opinion is that the sticks actually measure at 39.5"

One other suggestion - I think I heard somewhere that Disney has either a baby swap or child swap for some of the attractions that have height restrictions. Perhaps you could just swap out your child for a taller one.

:lmao::thumbsup2 This actually made me laugh out loud. Absolutely hilarious!

I bought my son a pair of high top Heelys and never put the wheels in. It added at least 2in. We had no problems getting him on all the rides...:thumbsup2

:rotfl:
I absolutely love your list of "broken" rules at Disney. I'm sure we'd all get a stern lecture from the Mouse himself for some of the stuff we may have done.

That being said, I can't condone anyone trying to circumvent the height restrictions. Pool hopping, or refilling an old mug won't result in someone getting seriously injured.

For the OP, I'm sending growth prayers your way.

Well I am sorry but I disagree. If the parent wants to endanger thier own child, well that is their business, but if I am drowning I sure in heck don't want the lifeguard not to be able to see me due to the view being blocked by some pond scum pool hopper. ;) :rotfl2:
