What to do 🤔

This 100%. I bought direct points at $95 a point last year - if it happened before it can happen again; no one expected the OKWe fire sales after the VGF deal not long before. And the value of direct can vary a lot by use case. For me, the primary factor was unrestricted access to current/future resorts.
You also purchased a bazillion points 🤣

Can anyone tell me the difference besides the shorter contract between owning at BRV and SSR ? I don’t think I want to be on the hook for paying MF beyond 15-18 years! And I know some people say well you can sell it but in 15 or so years SSR will only have 15 years left so won’t it be difficult to sell? Can anyone help me make sense of this? This purchase is strictly for Sleep around points so not important to have a home resort I love as I am doing it for variety

7.6% higher cost to own because of dues, at least 7% higher upfront cost to buy, no value after 16 years, and a smaller number of contracts so less flexibility to adjust the membership.

Will SSR have a market in 15 years? The points will still work at the Grand Floridian, The Polynesian, The Grand Californian, Aulani, Bay Lake Tower, Animal Kingdom, etc…. so…. yes….

FWIW, I would buy BLT or CCV over SSR just to have the “better” home resort. But the window for “cheap” BLT may be closing soon….

Where a door closes, a window opens! "Cheap" BLT is closing soon but I predict 2025 will be the year of CCV resale. Its starting to look pretty worn down and now may be the best time to buy before its refurb later this year.

BLT is cheap through resale? As I look, that doesn’t seem so

If you want to travel at various times of year what use year would be best? are certain UYs cheaper to buy resale than others?

It's "cheap" compared to other monorail resorts, its about 20-25 more vs SSR, dues are pretty great since its a tower, and it has more years left since it expires in 2060. Has meaningful 11 month availability as well to try for standard rooms that are quite a bit cheaper there.

Many people have been getting BLT in the $125pp range…. it will likely go much higher as the refurb finishes.

You also have to factor in the dues vs other resorts.
Agreed. Blt was my second choice as additionally, the 7 min walk to mk just cant be beat so it will absolutely retain its resale value even after the 2042 resorts are done (moreso than ssr). Unfortunately my kids are obsessed with boardwalk, but I had narrowed it down to those 2, esp with the very reasonable resale costs there!

Sounds like a split stay could be in your future!

When they say BLT is cheap for resale, they don't necessarily mean it's priced like the black sheep of the DVC family, SSR. They mean it's well priced for a resort with highly desirable location, particularly as it's now undergoing a refurb which may at some point drive up the resale pricing.

I am late..but try to get the same use year. We have been members since 1995, have 3 contracts--2 at OKW and one at Beach Club. It has been hard book sometimes --we usually bank points and go to beach club every other year. Seriously considering selling our points and leaving DVC. It seems non-DVC members end up with better deals and less expensive trips (when considering maintenance fees)

UY is important in the sense of planning months in advance for trips that are likely to happen. The same can be said for timeshares and DVC membership. Yes, you can use DVC points all year before they expire but it works better if you book trips that happen during the banking window.
Cash reservations can be rescheduled very easily with Disney but DVC has some limitations. As a new buyer, it might be helpful to narrow your vacation window to the most likely time frame and purchase a UY that is prior to that.
Example: I travel during January, March, and June. December UY works well for this because if I have to cancel, I can bank the points (adherence to banking rules of course).
ETA: SSR is a great home resort if you need “cheap” and “easy availability “.
