Ugh! Please stopI am NOT a fan of their muffins. Too dry for me. But they offer a whipped cream frosting on their cakes that is much more to my taste than buttercream.
Ugh! Please stop(I have a serious sweet tooth.)
Will definitely have to try a cake one of these days.
Yes--Richmond.Sounds like you all live in VA? We are lucky to finally have a Wegmans very close to my house here in MD, but it's missing that HUGE wine section like the one I've seen in Fairfax County! Everything at Wegmans just seems larger than every other grocery store- the meat, seafood, produce, gluten free sections especially. And their cheese department is like in a world of it's own!
I think we ate dinner at Wegmans 2-3 times a week the first month it was open. I won't say it's cost effective, but there is something for everyone! Also, with the first few opening weekends, there were additional food stands for prepared foods like grilled steak and crab cake meals. I love that I can take the kids, they can get subs or pizza or whatever off the bar, and I can get sushi. The dessert section in the bakery awesome, and they even sell stuff by the slice in case you are dining in.
The one that is an hour north of me has this awesome feature where you can order your deli items on a touch screen before you go in the store, and then by the time you get to the deli, your order is already sliced and ready for you. I love that and I'm not sure why they didn't incorporate it in the one by my house. I'm a sucker for impulse buys so I tend to buy a lot there that is new and interesting that I may not have seen at other stores.
Our Kroger's sell Ukrops' cakes. Which is good since Martin's is closing all Richmond stores.Timely thread. All the talk in my area of Va, in Newport News is Wegmans is wanting to open a store here. Aldi is building next to my work in Williamsburg(why is it depressing?).
Speaking of Ukrop's, now Martins, Love their cakes.
They typically have a LOT of checkout lines open all the time. MUCH better on that score than any other store around here.It was very busy but no wait to checkout. The one thing I needed, barley malt syrup, they didn't have even though their website said they had it in that store.
I asked about 5 people and a manager finally helped me and said he knew for sure it wasn't something they have. The next nearest store is about 75 miles away but there is one opening much closer to me in August. Hopefully they will have it.They typically have a LOT of checkout lines open all the time. Sorry they didn't have the barley malt syrup. Next time if the website says they have it, I'd recommend going to customer service at the front and ask - they may be able to find it in the store if it's in an strange location. Also, my store didn't have it but another did, customer service at my store called the other store to hold it for me. I drove over to the other store, went to the customer service desk where they had it for me. Paid for it and out in a minute!
FWIW one thing I don't like or buy there is lunch/deli meat. Have been spoiled by Boars Head, although Wegmans is a couple $/lb cheaper.
