Hey everyone!

My DH and my 2 DS and myself are leaving this Friday for our 7 day cruise. We have been on the Disney Magic once before in Sept of 2002 and loved it!

My question though is....what do you veteran cruisers bring to make the trip more enjoyable...easy...

For example ... after last cruise we decided this cruise it would be nice to bring walkie talkies so that we can keep up with the kids and each other...anything like that any of you bring to make the trip even more enjoyable....if that is even possible??

Thanks for your help!

Heidi

I'll be the first to add the #1 suggested item:

Over the door shoe holder: For toiletries. There isn't a lot of counter space in the bathroom.

Have a good trip!

I always forget it, but a small travel clock is great. I often wake up in the middle of the night and I like to know what time it is. :)

Bring binoculars if you have a verandah room, it's fun to look out and see other ships, islands and the occasional schools of flying fish.

A great thing to add is a mesh laundry bag. I hated having dirty clothes lying around and I didn't want to just throw then in the corner. We thought of this our 1st cruise and take one with us everwhere now.

I have my list and writting everything down you all are saying. I also went to the website that was suggested and it was way way awesome!!!!! It really helped out tons....

I'm up for ANY suggestions!!! Keep them coming....we only have 6 more days left.....

Thanks again,

Sorry...just couldn't help myself...too excited

I got $2 bills from the bank for tipping room service, baggage, etc. Easier than carrying so many $1 bills.

I also brought a small fan with. This way it helped cool off the room and the air wasn't as stale smelling.

A room deodorizer. After a while the smell of the room (humid, musty) gets to me. It's not dirty, but just musty.

The over-the-door-shoe holder is a MUST have!!

A small flashlight (especially if you have an inside stateroom), that way when you are trying to find something, you won't have to wake everyone up.

SUNSCREEN!!

Aloe Vera!! (sunburn relief)

Hi Folks:wave:
You need a good attitude, sense of humor, and a boat load of patience. You'll do fine!

TinkHappy mentioned the room deodorizer, and I'd like to take that thought a step further:

Buy a fragrance that you've never had before; never used at home. Make sure you buy several extras of the same fragrance. Leave at least 3 or 4 at home in the cabinet...

Have a couple of them going all week long in your stateroom. Every time you come into your room, you'll be greeted by that fragrance.

Now - when you return home, wait about a week. Then, pop open 1 or 2 of the same deodorizers in your home! You'll instantly be 'transported' back to the ship, because this 'never before used' fragrance is associated only with your cruise! Believe me - this works!!

Try it - it's cool. :)

'Beano'

BeanoC,
I associate a lot of memories with smell. I bought a new perfume and lotion the 1st time we stayed at The Caribbean Beach Resort in Disney World. Everytime I smell that perfume or lotion it brings back wonderful memories.:D

We also spray our car with orange air freshner everytime we go to Florida. We now associate oranges with Disney World and Cruising:)

Beano, when we married we burned Yankee Raspberry Chambourd candles and I had stored them pre-wedding in a chest. Now everytime I open that chest I am brought back to our wedding night- almost 5 years ago. The only thing I am afraid of is that one day Yankee Candle will stop selling that scent.

Hey, love the idea of the air fresher!!! (and the mini-fan)...
I am wondering if there are plenty of standard outlets for these items? Sounds like the 'Plug-In' air freshener is recommended?

Thanks!

Ziploc baggies for all the treasures. I took little bottle to collect a bit of sand from each beach we visited. I got the bottles from Cracker Barrel (the syrup) on our drive to Fl. We took $1. bills for tips and laundry machines. I bring my blender to make my own drinks. I save my money on the drinks but spend it at BINGO!!!! Air freshener is a must:crazy: the staterooms are just to small and the bathrooms are right at your door. P. U.

Zip Locks, Air Freshener, a highlighter pen, a permanent marker, binoculars, a light sweater or jacket for everyone, and pree-addressed peel and stick address labels for all the postcards you're going to want to send to people.

It probably sounds silly, but we're bringing a small coffee maker and dark, rich coffee. Coffee is a big deal with us, kind of a morning ritual, and the bland variety served in most public places just doesn't cut it--even for a week.

the over-the-door shoe hanger was a lifesaver.
Bring more film than you planned. Also
suggest underwater cameras - pictures
turned out great - also brought a throw-away
panoramic camera. Also the
one-dollar/two dollar bills came in handy - our
10 yr. old son LOVED room service. Bring
your own laundry detergent also.
Stick with these boards - they are the best source.
Bring an attitude - I'm going to have the
best vacation of my life, and WE DID!

Two items we did not have that I wish we had....

laundry detergent (planned to bring but forgot)

ziplock bags - would have really been handy for saving snacks, trinkets, etc. Several times I said to my wife I knew we should have brought some ziplocks. The good thing is it takes no space to bring a dozen empty bags with you.

You guys have been GREAT!!! All the suggestions are terrific! I think the best one I like is about bringing a new fragrance to keep the room smelling good but also remind you of the cruise when you come home....

One question...you think I could bring a scented candle? Of course I wouldn't burn it while we were out of the room?? Think they would allow it??

Just a thought....we have thre more days before we leave...can't even sleep at night and feel like a kid again!

Thanks again for the suggestions!
