Am heading down for 10 days.
I would skip the extra $ and early waking and go with the later flight. We used to always pick 1st flight of the day, even 6 am but after 8 trips now, we've slowed our pace a little. The problem with the early flight is that even though you can go to WDW if your room isn't ready yet, you may end up needing an afternoon nap. Why pay more for that? Sleep in a little and go well-rested. Relax by the pool the first day since you have plenty of time to go to the parks. If it were only a 4-5 day trip, I would say take the earlier one and pay more. Either way, have fun! :goodvibes

We chose later for our upcoming December trip. Our flight leaves Boston at noon and we get to Orlando at 3pm.

I chose this for a few reasons. We live 1.5 hours from the airport. An early flight would mean a super early, its still dark out wake up to get to the airport on time. Plus with Boston traffic we'd want to leave even earlier.

We have 3 kids (ages 9,7,4) and I thought if they could sleep normally (HA! Who sleeps normally the night before going to Disney!) it would be better than having to wake them at 4am to start our day. I would rather they be rested.

We are not going to a park that day but will go have dinner at CM for a taste of the magic and some characters.

Our return flight the following week doesn't leave Orlando till 3:45pm so we'll get to go to the park that morning which will be nice too.

We are taking a flight that leaves Buffalo at 7:10 that would mean a VERY early waking for us since we need to cross the border 1st. Since we are getting such cheap airfare 59 one way each, we are doing the Park & fly bit at a airport hotel! Got a rate of 89 for a great room so I feel we can't beat this whole thing. We don't loose a day outta a 4 day weekend :thumbsup2

We always take the first flight too and do park and fly...but we are two hours from the airport so it almost seems like necessity to stay over. It seems like it's just adding a lot of expense but we don't have the stress of making sure we get there on time in the morning and if you subtract what we would pay for airport parking it's not all that bad. We also are taking one of the latest flights home to try to really stretch our trip. :)

Just happened to be on the Southwest website and found the flight I'm on for $99 (plus tax). Went in and changed the reservation and now the flight is $107.80 versus $165. The only downside is that the credit is with Southwest, instead of back on my credit card, but that's ok.
