what time should we arrive?

What time should we arrive at the parking deck to ensure that we're at the park gates at opening? Do they open right at 9 am, or do they open earlier than the "official" opening?

I would allow a good 15 minutes from parking to the ticket counter. It's a pleasant walk and the people movers are wonder. Esp. on the ride back to the car. I would suggest you go early to enjoy the freedom that gives you and the parks did'nt get crowded until 10:30 on the mornings I was there so It was a blast and felt like we were the only ones there. Have a great trip.,

The earlier the better.
Yes, sometimes the park will open a few minutes early, and on really busy days, they open at 08:30am.
Arrive to the garage at 8am.
With delays and a bathroom stop, you'll get to the gate around 08:30. You'll be surprised at the number of people already waiting, they know the secret. Go first thru the turnstiles, and you'll get a front row ride on Hulk, re-rides, spiderman, and Dr Doom all before 09:30am. If it's a non busy day, the back of the park won't open till 10am. That's ok, go to the other side, gate opens, walk past everyone, run to Deuling Dragons, and get front seat rides on both sides.

Thanks! Our DD is 51 inches tall, so we'll hit Seuss Landing first, then on to all those wet rides that I HATE and she loves.

Personally, I found that Universal didn't open particularly early so arriving at the garage at about 8:30 would be plenty early. I think even 8:45 would have you there for opening. The next bit of advice needs to be taken very seriously, if you are doing the IOA water rides early, wear a bathing suit for them. We were at IOA on Fri. the 22nd and my wallet has just dried out. Forgot to remove it because we brought a change of clothes so I wasn't worried about getting wet. When you see shoes and socks being removed - take heed and follow that lead.

for the water rides, i recommend taking a poncho as well during the colder months. and in some places (One Fish, Curious George) they turn the water effects off if it's really cold.
