What time is your mail delivered?

Our post never arrives before 12pm. Yesterday, it was here at 2pm. This would not be so bad if there were still two post rounds per day, but having just one at this late time I find unacceptable. I always used to like having the post delivered whilst having breakfast - now it is lunch - or later! It's especially annoying on days when I am working, because any packages which need to be signed for have to be collected from the sorting centre - which is only open weekdays until 12.30pm!

I'm never in when it is delivered during the week but on a Saturday it is never before 10

I know it's frustrating but this time of year is very busy for our dear posties which is why the post is even later at the moment. Spare a thought for them too - they are rushing round trying to get finished on time and all they get is people moaning that the post is late!

It is a shame though that the post office did away with second delivery and prioritised businesses over residential and towns over rural areas for first delivery times.

It isn't just "this time of year". Ever since we have lived in our current house it has been delivered in the early afternoon. IMO it's unacceptable.

Ours is always delivered after 11am but mainly delivered between 12-2pm and this just isn't christmas time

Ours has been better recently - normally mid-morning (late enough to be a little embarrassed that I haven't got round to getting dressed yet!(lots of Amazon/baby/dh birthday/Christmas parcels to have to open the door for!))

In the summer it was sometimes as late as 4:30 pm and at that time I wondered if it was more than a coincidence that there was never any mail for us on a Monday!

Ours is quite good at the mo as its coming about 9am but sometimes for months we dont get it until 2pm, we have even had it at 4pm once!

Ours varies quite a lot too. Funnily enough I've just heard today's arrive as I sit here which isn't bad as far as time goes but it can be very late into the afternoon some days (throughout the year). I also blame the system not the posties - and stamps are going up yet again!!! How can they get away with this when the service is much poorer than it used to be? No competition I guess!!

I agree Our postman is brilliant

They deliver the postmans bag to our house at about 9am, and they store it behind my gate. But I still dont get my letters till the afternoon most of the time.

Ours is delivered between 10 and 11am.

I know at one time it was proposed that you could have a guaranteed delivery before 9am - but at a cost. I don't know if that ever came into effect or not.

Our postman is a nice bloke, but it's getting later and later - often mid afternoon by the time the post arrives.

I was just talking about this today! Ours arrives at about 1pm every day (regardless of the time of year) except when it's something that has to be signed for. Only then do they come before we're even awake and wake us up. I'm not really bothered about the late delivery, but sometimes it's a bit frustrating when I want to go out and know that there might be something too big for the letterbox. We don't have a car so it's quite a trek to the delivery office.

Ours comes between 12 and 1 each day. It doesn't really bother me what time it comes though, as when I'm at work I go out at 7 and am not back till around 5.

As long as it comes each day that's ok!

I do blame our postman - he's a nice enough bloke but he's totally useless. Half of the mail we get is for other people, sometimes the post code on the misdelivered mail isn't even similar... I have complained about him, funnily enough we got no mail at all for about a week after that!!

Oh well, at least we get to know the neighbours on the "mail swap" rounds...

He shouldn't be delivering the wrong mail but often it comes through to the posties mis-sorted (by the wonderful sorting machines in the main mail centres that can read postcodes!). Still no excuse though, I know.

Another reason the posties don't get out so early (certainly round this way) is that there used to be 3 dedicated night shift workers who sorted the mail throughout the night. The rest of the posties would come in about 5.00am sort what was left and go out on delivery by 7.00. Now they don't have dedicated night shift workers (though some go in on overtime to sort but maybe only 2 and not for as long) so there is more to sort before they can even get out to deliver.

Mine comes around 11.30 as a norm, but as I leave the house at 6.45 every morning, it doesnt make any difference to me what time he comes, it's been lovely coming home every night this week and having a mountain of cards to open. as well as the bills, lol

My postie John is lovley and we always stop and have a little chat on a Saturday.
