Hey Thumper, ITA w/you, I hope you get rain. Just spoke w/Mike and he is one of the Rangers heading up this special trek called Rayado. They will hike 200 miles in 20 days. He said it is very dry and they have a fire ban on which means no camp fires at all. They have to be very creative with their meal planning w/o fire. This was his first call to us in 10 days and he is sitting atop MOUNT BALDY where he actually got cell service. He said the trek has been so amazing and he has not slept in his tent at all ... all under the stars!!!
Rayado Program
A prestigious and very strenuous twenty-day program. Scouts are challenged physically, mentally, and spiritually. Rayado crews, accompanied by two of the Ranger Department's best qualified members, are put together by Philmont staff, and consist of people from different parts of the country.
10:18am in San Diego. Sunny, 70 degrees.![]()
Better him than me?![]()
Yeah it has been hot and dry around here. I hope he has plenty of sunscreen. Sounds like he's having fun though. If you call hiking 200 miles in 20 days fun. Glad he was able to get service. I do the occasional hunting and camping trip and have noticed cell phone service is getting much better throughout the state.
I'm wondering if he's had to use his tent lately? We finally got a little bit of rain this weekend. Some scattered showers, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Finally helped it cool down a bit. Chance of more scattered showers today. I'm sure he's hoping for more so they can actually make a campfire. No fun camping if you can't make a campfire. At least that's my opinion.
Looks like it was going to be a bit cool up his way today. Looking at the weather, seems it got pretty cold in his neck of the woods last night. Dropped down to 31 degrees. That's really cold for this time of the year. Right now it's 46 where he's at. Supposed to get up to 86 up today.
Here in Santa Fe, NM, at 9:05 am; it's currently 71 degrees under clear skies. Chance of rain in the afternoon.
It's 11:32a and 89 degrees, heat index is 95. Very humid out there!
Sue, glad your weekend was nice but now the humidity is back ...![]()
Does it seem as though you are having a more humid summer than years past?
11:03am in San Diego, marine layer, 67 degrees.
Yes and hotter too! With less rain, it is so dry all or most of the lawns here are brown. Like you see in late August.
Today it's really nice less humidity.
It's 2:34p and 85 degrees, the dew point is about 57 which is really nice. Yesterday it was 71 very very humid...
WOW! It feels like fall here now
It's 8:19a and 64 degrees, when I got up this morning it was only 55 degrees.
LOL we were just saying the same thing here. It's very sunny but only 72. I'm actually cold, lol. That's what happens when you lose a bunch of weight. I'm always cold now.
