What time is best for Blue Bayou?

I made a dinner ressie this time around. I'm sure Friday night is going to be packed and I thought it would be a relaxed break from the action. I'll miss the lunch offerings though.

Anyone have dinner entree suggestions? TIA

Generally everything suggested stands. The difference is at dinner there is no Monte Cristo on the Menu but there is Steak and Lobster. I'll tell you the chef was on last time I was there, that fillet was one of the best I've ever had. The lobster, well is that ever bad?

We are going on a Saturday as well so maybe dinner would be better. A chance to cool off and step away from the crowds and enjoy dinner before we hit the rest of the rides.

You can get the Monte Cristo "across the street" at Cafe Orleans for a lot less money. I've never made reservations at CO and the longest I've had to wait for a party of 4 or less is about 15 minutes. They also serve it for lunch and dinner.

Man, I just looked at the prices. Looks like they're up across the board for both restaurants.

I always eat there at 5:30PM and ask for waterside, the longest I've waited is 30 minutes

It's absolutely possible. We've done that a time or two, had later reservations (we normally try for the 11:30 slot) and asked for waterside. We've always got it, we've been told we'd have to wait up to 45 minutes but we've never had to wait more then 10-15. Just let them know that's what you'd like, then when they say you will have to wait say that's fine and wait. That's it.

I agree...we have had that happen twice, been told the wait would be 45-60 minutes for waterside and it was actually about 15-20.

The MC is less at CO but you get NO sides at all with it, just the sandwich, you might get a bunch of 6 grapes or so but that's it. lol At BB you get veggies and potatoes and a salad or gumbo to start, you also get bread rolls. It's the same sandwich tho, delish at both places. As for CO and no reservations, I don't suggest that unless you're going off peak, we've been told that they are accepting NO walk ups for the entire day because they are completely booked and we've had to wait upwards of 45 minutes or so. That doesn't happen every time but it does happen. We've always waited 15-20 minutes so it can go both ways.

In Feb & Oct this year we made res for 3:30. Requested waterside table both times, 1x with 6 people; both times told "30 min." Waited no more than 15. May still be lunch items at that time? -- we just went for bday desserts&coffee&ambiance

At Blue Bayou:

The Monte Cristo sandwich is available only on the lunch menu (until 4:00).

The Buccaneer Beef Short Ribs are available again at both lunch and dinner. There was a period of several months when they were not on the menu.

This information is accurate as of Wednesday Nov. 17 (last time I worked there).

You can always request a waterside table when you check in to be seated, and if you a willing to wait (wait means wait there with your entire party) you will get it (parties larger than 4 often 1 hour or more - parties larger than 8 on a busy day the wait may be very long) as long as you are not close to closing - you must be seated by closing time, regardless of whether a waterside table has opened up.

On the positive side, sometimes the wait time is "right now", so it never hurts to ask. If the wait is too long for you, you can just take the first available table.
