We'll be eating dinner at Boma one night this upcoming trip, and we were hoping to catch the storyteller at the fire pit outside.

Does anyone know about what time that happens, in the summer?

Is there anything else fun going on at night at AKL?

Thanks!

On the Uzima Savanna by the pool. A guide will be there and you can look through the googles then.

They also have the night vision goggles on Arusha Rock.

Never been to AKL  however we will be having dinner there 2 evenings, Sept 3rd at Jiko's and Sep 6th at Boma's. What and where is Arusha Rock? Is this something we should see? I have heard about the storyteller and looking forward to seeing/doing this but what about the Arusha Rock?
:confused3

Do you need to be a registered guest at AKL to take advantage of these activities? We'll be dining at Jiko (but lodging at POP) and I was hoping to do the night-vision thing, but unsure if we'd be allowed to.:confused3

Anyone know from experience? Thanks!

You don't have to be a guest at the AKL in order to enjoy the storytelling or night vision goggles. When entering the Lodge, check out the activities board on the left for the times. When you walk straight through the lobby towards the glass wall, there will be steps going down which lead you to Arusha Rock and Savannah. Storytelling occurs around the firepit, which is located right outside the doors. Straight behind the firepit is Arusha Rock, which extends out into the savannah. There are CMs at the back who have the night vision goggles to share.

:goodvibes Thanks for the reply, John's Mom! That sounds like great fun:cool1: and I'll be able to surprise my husband!;)

If you have children, they also have a parade around the lobby soon after the storytelling. They allowed the children to pick an African instrument from the gift shop. Then a CM marched the children around the lobby as they played their instruments. After they returned the instruments, the CMs gave the children a "Magical Moment" certificate. My kids thought it was fun.

WOW!!! That sounds like so much fun. Is the storytelling the same time every night or does it change with the different seasons?
