Park closes at 8, however, we plan to be there at opening. Have 8 y.o. that would love to watch the animals! Had read someplace about the fun stuff to do at AKL after like a campfire, stories and using night vision goggles - can't remember where so unsure of timing. Any help appreciated!

just posted this over on your other thread, lol:

we ate at Sanaa last May - it was the last week of May - our ADR was for right when they opened at 5:30. The animals were being fed (fresh bales of whatever they eat out there) Anyway, there were giraffes and zebras...they come very close to the windows (maybe 20 feet away) and it was an awesome view. The animals were only in the area for maybe 30 minutes then they all left. Did not see any more animals outside Sanaa again while we were there (until about 6:30, or 6:45) We went out on the verandah viewing area after that and there were few animals out there also. Not sure the evening is a really good viewing time for the animals. Maybe after dark with night-vision glasses but we didn't stay that late (would be dark around 9:00 p.m. at the end of May)

That said, AKL is a wonderful place to visit, anyway. The lobby is fantastic, lots of displays (almost like being in a museum) The gift shop is really cool, too, because in addition to the usual Disney touristy stuff, there's a good amount of native goods - carvings, musical instruments, decorative pieces, etc.
